Garmin Fenix 8 Beta Update Brings 12 Fixes and Improvements to Premium Smartwatches
Garmin is rolling out a fresh beta software update for several of its latest high-end smartwatches, bringing another round of refinements before the next major stable release arrives. The new Garmin Beta Version 23.22 is available for users enrolled in the Garmin Beta Program and targets models including the Garmin Enduro 3, Fenix 8, Quatix 8, and Fenix 8 Pro.
The update follows Beta Version 23.19, which arrived near the end of July. Although Garmin has already released several builds in the 23.xx beta cycle, the company has continued polishing the software experience by addressing more bugs and improving overall reliability.
According to Garmin, the Beta Version 23.22 rollout is being delivered gradually. Around 20% of eligible beta testers are expected to receive the update notification automatically at first. However, users who do not want to wait can manually check for the update directly from their smartwatch.
To install the update manually, open the main menu on the watch, go to System, select Software Update, and then choose Check for Updates.
The main focus of Garmin Beta Version 23.22 is stability. Several of the included fixes address problems that could cause the watch to crash, reset, or reboot unexpectedly. This is especially important for athletes, outdoor users, and smartwatch owners who rely on their devices during workouts, navigation, training sessions, and daily health tracking.
One of the more notable additions is a new prompt for Fenix 8 series users. The watch will now inform users that watch face selection during boat mode will only appear again after boat mode has been disabled. The update also fixes cases where an audio spectator message might fail to play while music was paused. For fitness tracking, Beta Version 23.22 includes an important fix for pace and speed dropouts. These dropouts were especially noticeable during interval training, where accurate pace and speed data are essential for performance tracking.
