Samsung’s foldable phones may be heading for one of their biggest camera upgrades yet. A new rumor from the Korean tech community claims the Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra could inherit a camera setup very similar to the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra, potentially closing the gap between Samsung’s premium foldable and its traditional Ultra flagship.
If the leak proves accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold9 Ultra may feature a new 200MP ISOCELL HP6 main camera alongside a 50MP 5x periscope telephoto lens. That would be a major improvement over the current Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, especially in zoom performance.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra currently uses a 200MP HP2 main sensor, a 10MP 3x telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultrawide camera. While that setup is already strong for a foldable phone, Samsung’s non-folding Ultra models have typically offered more advanced camera hardware. The rumored Fold9 Ultra upgrade suggests Samsung may finally be ready to give its top foldable the same photography treatment as its Galaxy S Ultra lineup.
The biggest change would be the move from a 10MP 3x telephoto camera to a 50MP 5x periscope zoom lens.
