Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Rumors Point to a Major Camera Redesign and Bigger Battery
The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is already becoming one of the most talked-about flagship phones expected for 2027, even though its launch is still likely many months away. Fresh supply chain rumors from South Korea suggest that Samsung may be preparing one of the biggest design changes to its Ultra model in years, with a new triple-camera layout that could improve photography, battery life, charging, and everyday usability.
According to the latest claims, Samsung may remove the dedicated 3x telephoto camera from the Galaxy S27 Ultra. This would be a significant shift, as the Ultra series has long relied on multiple rear cameras to deliver flexible zoom performance. However, the 3x telephoto lens has often been viewed as one of the weaker parts of the camera system, mainly because of its relatively small 10 MP sensor.
Instead of replacing that camera with a newer 3x module, Samsung is reportedly planning to drop it entirely. The Galaxy S27 Ultra could then use a triple-camera setup, possibly arranged inside a horizontal camera bar. This new design may bring several practical benefits beyond simply changing the phone’s appearance.
One of the biggest rumored advantages is improved zoom quality. Industry sources claim that the 5x periscope telephoto camera could deliver better and more natural-looking results at around 3x zoom than the older dedicated 3x lens. At first, that may sound surprising, since optical zoom from a dedicated 3x camera should normally have an advantage at that range.
