Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple’s First Foldable iPhone May Debut Samsung’s Next-Gen Foldable Display Together

A fresh leak on X is giving foldable phone fans an early look at what could be Samsung’s most ambitious big-screen foldable yet: the Galaxy Z Fold8. With a summer launch widely expected, the rumored specs point to a device that focuses on the two biggest priorities for foldables today—durability and the everyday “no-compromises” experience.

One of the most attention-grabbing details is the display build. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is said to feature a dual-layer Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) paired with a laser-drilled metal support plate. If accurate, this combination is designed to strengthen the foldable panel, improve long-term reliability, and help the phone better handle the stress that comes from repeated opening and closing.

Screen sizes also sound aimed at maximizing productivity and media. The leak claims an 8-inch internal display alongside a 6.5-inch cover screen, and both are expected to support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. That means fast scrolling, fluid animations, and responsive gaming whether you’re using the phone closed or fully unfolded.

The foldable crease remains the battleground everyone is chasing, and this leak hints at a bigger industry story: Samsung is reportedly developing the same crease-less display technology for Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone. While some competitors have already managed a nearly invisible crease, the next wave of foldables could make the crease even less noticeable, which is one of the key upgrades shoppers ask for year after year. Samsung’s typical release schedule suggests the Galaxy Z Fold8 is likely to arrive before Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which could give Samsung the first chance to show off major “crease reduction” progress at scale.

Performance is expected to stay firmly in flagship territory. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is rumored to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, with memory options of 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Storage could go as high as 1TB, which is especially appealing for users who shoot a lot of high-resolution video, install large games, or rely on their foldable as a primary work device.

Camera hardware could also take a serious leap. The reported setup includes a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. If these specs hold, the Fold8 would be positioned not just as a productivity powerhouse, but also as a foldable that doesn’t ask you to settle for “good enough” photography.

Even more interesting is the battery and charging rumor. Despite allegedly being thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold7, the Fold8 could pack a larger 5,000 mAh battery. It’s also said to support 45W charging, which would be a notable change for Samsung’s large foldable line and a much-needed upgrade for people who want faster top-ups during busy days.

Pricing hasn’t appeared in the leak, so the final cost remains a question mark. For reference, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 launched at around 2,000 USD / 2,100 EUR, marking a 100 USD/EUR increase over the Fold6. If Samsung delivers bigger durability gains, a larger battery, faster charging, and potential crease improvements, many buyers will be watching closely to see whether the Fold8 holds the line on price—or climbs again.

As always with leaks, it’s worth treating every detail as unconfirmed until Samsung makes it official. Still, if even most of this information turns out to be accurate, the Galaxy Z Fold8 could become one of the most well-rounded foldable upgrades Samsung has released in years.
