Forza Horizon 5 Races Past 5 Million PS5 Sales, Fueling Over $300 Million in Revenue

Forza Horizon 5 is proving that a great racing game can find a whole new wave of success years after its original launch. The open-world racer, best known for its high-speed festivals, constant progression, and huge car list, has reportedly surpassed 5 million copies sold on PlayStation 5, turning its late arrival on Sony’s console into a major win.

Originally released in November 2021 for Xbox and Windows, Forza Horizon 5 quickly became one of the standout entries in the long-running franchise. But the story didn’t end there. In April 2025, the game finally launched on PS5, giving PlayStation players their first chance to jump into its sprawling road trips, seasonal events, and collectible car culture. Despite being several years old by the time it reached a new platform, recent sales estimates indicate the PS5 version has been a massive hit.

Market analyst Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics reported that the PS5 edition has now crossed the 5 million mark. That’s a notable milestone for any game, but it’s especially impressive for a port arriving well into the original release cycle. It suggests strong pent-up demand from PS5 owners who had been waiting to experience the Horizon formula firsthand.

The results had been trending in this direction for a while. Earlier estimates in mid-2025 indicated Forza Horizon 5 was the top-selling new PS5 game of the year at that point, and the continued sales momentum now appears to confirm the game has remained a consistent performer rather than a brief launch spike.

Alongside its sales success, the PS5 release is also said to have generated around $300 million in revenue. For a racing title that debuted back in 2021, that figure highlights how powerful a well-timed console release can be, especially when the game already has a strong reputation, established content, and word-of-mouth appeal.

Meanwhile, the franchise isn’t slowing down. A sequel to Forza Horizon 5 is currently in development and is scheduled to release in 2026 for Windows and Xbox Series X|S. The next entry is also planned to launch on PS5, though a specific release date or window has not yet been confirmed.
