Forza Horizon 6 is already racing toward a massive sales milestone, with early data suggesting the new open-world driving game has sold nearly 5 million copies across Steam and Xbox platforms just days after launch.
The latest entry in the hugely popular Forza Horizon series first became available on May 15 for Premium Edition players, before its wider release on May 19. Since then, the game has quickly become one of the biggest launches of the year, reportedly generating more than $325 million in gross revenue in less than a week.
According to market data, Forza Horizon 6 has sold close to 4.9 million paid copies across Steam and Xbox. Steam appears to be leading in pure unit sales, with around 2.8 million copies sold on the platform. Xbox platforms, including console, PC, and cloud, are said to have contributed nearly 2.1 million paid copies.
However, the game’s total player base is much larger when Xbox Game Pass is included. More than 3 million additional players reportedly accessed Forza Horizon 6 through Microsoft’s subscription service. This means the game’s actual audience has already climbed well beyond its paid sales figure, showing the continued strength of Game Pass as a launch platform for major Xbox titles.
The Premium Edition also played a major role in the game’s explosive start. Around 1.7 million players reportedly purchased either the Premium Edition or the Premium Add-On Bundle, allowing them to start playing on May 15 before the standard release. Early access has become a powerful sales driver for major game launches, and Forza Horizon 6 appears to be another strong example of that trend.
One of the more interesting details is the revenue split between platforms. While Steam reportedly sold more copies overall, Xbox generated slightly more money. Xbox platforms are said to account for about 51% of total gross revenue, while Steam represents around 49%. This suggests that premium upgrades, higher-value purchases, and platform-specific spending may have helped Xbox edge ahead in revenue despite selling fewer copies.
The strong performance of Forza Horizon 6 highlights the lasting popularity of the franchise. Known for its stunning open worlds, accessible racing, huge car lists, and festival-style atmosphere, the Forza Horizon series has remained one of Xbox’s most important gaming brands. With nearly 5 million paid copies sold and millions more players joining through Game Pass, Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up to be one of the most successful racing game launches in recent years.
If the current pace continues, Forza Horizon 6 could soon pass the 5 million sales mark and continue building momentum throughout the year, especially as more players discover the game through word of mouth, online events, seasonal updates, and its growing multiplayer community.
