For some time, the larger foldable was expected in 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Fold. Insider Jeff Pu notes that while the smaller device is on schedule, the 18.8-inch model’s production faces delays, meaning mass production in 2026 is no longer feasible.
Details remain scarce about whether the larger device will be an iPad or a MacBook. Earlier reports leaned towards it running macOS, suggesting a MacBook form. However, there’s industry debate, with some envisioning it as a hybrid featuring macOS with touch capabilities.
