The Exynos 2600’s Xclipse 960 GPU has caught attention with its impressive benchmark performances. Recent leaks reveal the GPU, featuring 8 Compute Units (CUs), surpassing many current-generation models. Despite earlier mixed results, the Exynos 2600 has now showcased strong scores of 2,810 and 9,301 on Geekbench, outperforming the Dimensity 9400.
The GPU shines with a score of 3,135 points (achieving 23.23 FPS) in the 3D Mark Steel Nomad Light test, outpacing the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s Adreno 830 GPU. According to a Geekbench listing, the Xclipse 960 boasts 4 Work Group Processors (WGPs) with a maximum clock speed of 555 MHz.
Interestingly, the tested GPU was an engineering sample with a substantial power budget. The retail version might differ, though firmware optimizations could enhance its performance. Rumors suggest Samsung is crafting this GPU with input from a Huawei engineer, marking it as the first Xclipse model to forego AMD RDNA architecture. This effort highlights Samsung’s ambition in the GPU development landscape.
