Everyday Adventure E-Bike Debuts With Bosch Mid-Drive, Full Suspension, and 720 Wh Battery

Scott E-Ville 20 debuts as a full-suspension electric city bike with Bosch power and a 720 Wh battery

Scott has unveiled the E-Ville 20, a new electric bike designed for riders who want the comfort and practicality of an urban commuter without giving up the ability to explore rougher paths when the mood strikes. While many city e-bikes focus purely on paved roads, the E-Ville 20 takes a more adventurous approach by combining commuter-ready equipment with full suspension and a powerful Bosch drive system.

The standout feature is its unusual full-suspension setup. The bike uses a front suspension fork with 100 mm of travel, paired with an SR Suntour Raidon-R-TR T rear shock. That makes the E-Ville 20 more capable on uneven streets, cobblestones, gravel paths, and light off-road routes than a typical rigid or front-suspension-only city e-bike. It also includes a dropper seatpost, a feature often seen on mountain bikes, allowing riders to adjust saddle height more easily when terrain changes.

Power comes from a Bosch Performance Line CX mid-drive motor, a popular choice for premium electric bikes thanks to its strong support and natural pedaling feel. The motor is paired with a large 720 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery, giving the E-Ville 20 the kind of battery capacity expected from an e-bike built for longer commutes, weekend rides, and daily use. For riders who need dependable range rather than just short-distance assistance, this setup should be a major selling point.

The Scott E-Ville 20 is built around an aluminum frame and comes fully equipped for road use. It includes integrated lighting for safer riding in low-light conditions, making it suitable for commuting early in the morning or after sunset. A rear rack is also included and can carry up to 20 kg of cargo. With a maximum permitted total weight of 160 kg, the bike can handle a rider, luggage, and daily essentials without pushing its limits too quickly.

At 31.3 kg, or around 69 lb, the E-Ville 20 is not a lightweight e-bike. However, that weight is understandable given the full-suspension frame, large battery, Bosch mid-drive motor, lighting system, rack, and other commuter-focused equipment. Riders who need to carry a bike up stairs may want to keep the weight in mind, but for everyday riding, the added components contribute to comfort, durability, and versatility.

Shifting is handled by a 10-speed Shimano Cues derailleur drivetrain, offering a useful gear range for city riding, hills, and mixed terrain. One surprising omission is a proper chain guard. For a bike aimed at everyday urban use, a chain guard would have helped protect clothing and reduce maintenance concerns for commuters. Its absence may be a downside for riders planning to use the E-Ville 20 in work clothes or during daily errands.

The rear rack includes a luggage strap, but it does not appear to feature lower pannier rails. That may limit convenience for riders who regularly use side bags, although the rack should still work well for lighter cargo and everyday items.

The Scott E-Ville 20 is listed at €4,599, positioning it as a premium electric city bike with crossover capabilities. It is not yet widely available in stock, but Scott bicycles are sold in many international markets, so broader availability may follow.

Overall, the Scott E-Ville 20 is an interesting option for riders who want more than a standard commuter e-bike. With full suspension, a Bosch Performance Line CX motor, a 720 Wh battery, integrated lighting, and practical cargo capacity, it blends city-bike convenience with adventure-ready comfort. The high weight and missing chain guard may give some buyers pause, but for those looking for a powerful and comfortable electric bike for daily commuting and occasional off-road detours, the E-Ville 20 stands out as a distinctive new choice.
