Dreame is expanding its smart home lineup with a new bathroom- and bedroom-friendly gadget: the Dreame Life SP09 Pro Smart Trash Can. Known for products like robot vacuums, robot lawn mowers, and smart lighting, the brand is now bringing the same automation-first approach to something far more everyday—your trash bin.
The Dreame SP09 Pro is built around a smart sensor that detects a hand or item hovering above it, then automatically opens the lid so you can toss waste without touching anything. Dreame also claims its double lid design helps prevent your hand from coming into contact with the lid itself, which could make it more appealing for anyone focused on cleanliness and reducing germ transfer. There’s also a handy button option that keeps the lid open for an extended time, which can be especially useful when you’re cleaning a room and need repeated access without triggering the sensor over and over.
One of the headline features is automatic trash bag dispensing. Instead of manually wrestling a liner into place, the system uses suction to open the bag and pull it neatly against the inside walls of the bin. It’s a small quality-of-life upgrade, but one that can make routine chores feel faster and less annoying—especially in spaces where you want things to look tidy without much effort.
With a 9L (about 2.4 gallons) capacity, Dreame suggests it helps reduce how often you need to empty it. Still, at this size, it seems better suited for smaller spaces like bathrooms, bedrooms, or an office rather than a busy kitchen. The SP09 Pro runs on battery power and comes in a clean white plastic finish with a gold accent. Its dimensions are 347 x 304 x 156 mm (roughly 13.7 x 12.0 x 6.1 inches), making it compact enough to tuck beside a vanity, desk, or nightstand.
In China, the Dreame Life SP09 Pro Smart Trash Can is priced at CNY 329 (around $48). For now, there’s no word on whether it will launch internationally, though Dreame already sells other smart home products in markets like the United States.
