DJI Romo Launches Premium Robot Vacuums Packed with Drone-Caliber Sensors

DJI is bringing its drone savvy indoors with Romo, a premium robot vacuum lineup that blends LiDAR mapping, AI-powered navigation, and serious suction into a single, self-maintaining cleaning system. Available from October 28, the three-model series starts at €1,299 (around $1,511) and is designed for deep cleaning on both hard floors and carpets.

At the heart of Romo is a multimodal sensor array pulled straight from DJI’s expertise in aerial robotics. Dual fisheye cameras work alongside a wide-angle solid-state LiDAR and machine-learning mapping to recognize and avoid everyday hazards. DJI says the system can detect objects as thin as 2 mm and intelligently route around cables, socks, or even stray playing cards. As with any lab-derived claim, performance will vary by home layout, lighting, and software updates.

Cleaning hardware is tuned for power and precision. Romo boasts up to 25,000 Pa of suction with 20 L/s airflow, backed by two high-speed roller motors designed to tackle hair without tangles. A 164 ml onboard water tank automatically adjusts flow for consistent wet cleaning. Dual flexible side arms extend to reach into corners and along baseboards, while adaptive brush control helps prevent scattering debris, a common headache with particles like cat litter.

The all-in-one base takes care of the messy parts. It uses four high-pressure nozzles and a 12 N downward force to scrub the mop pads, plus a large 16 mm waste outlet to handle dirty water efficiently. Under test conditions, DJI claims this setup can reduce pad maintenance for up to 200 days; real-world results will depend on use and environment.

Privacy features are built in. Through the DJI Home app, you can choose modes tailored for carpets, thresholds, kitchens and bathrooms, or pet zones. Camera access requires two-factor authentication on first use, live streams are encrypted, and you can disable the cameras entirely if you prefer.

Romo is offered in three trims. Romo S is priced at €1,299 (~$1,511), Romo A at €1,599 (~$1,860), and Romo P at €1,899 (~$2,210). The Romo P adds transparent windows on both the robot and base so you can see key components at a glance, plus an extra dispensing chamber for concentrated cleaners or floor scents. Official accessories include spare brushes, a ramp for thresholds up to 4 cm, and a starter cleaning solution. Units are available through DJI’s online store and authorized retailers beginning October 28.

For households that want advanced obstacle avoidance, strong suction, and low-maintenance mopping in a single device, DJI’s Romo range aims to deliver a premium, hands-off cleaning experience backed by the company’s proven sensor technology.
