DJI Romo A2 and Romo P2 Robot Vacuums Launch With Stronger Suction, Smarter AI Cleaning, and Longer Hands-Free Maintenance

DJI is strengthening its presence in the robot vacuum market with the launch of two new models in the Romo 2 series: the DJI Romo A2 and DJI Romo P2. Designed as upgraded versions of the earlier Romo A and Romo P, the new models focus on more powerful cleaning, smarter navigation, better obstacle handling, and longer maintenance-free operation.

The DJI Romo A2 and Romo P2 share the same core features, with the main visual difference being their design. The Romo A2 comes in a clean white finish, while the Romo P2 features a transparent-style body for users who prefer a more futuristic look.

One of the biggest upgrades is suction power. Both robot vacuums now deliver up to 36,000 Pa of suction, a significant jump from the 25,000 Pa offered by the previous generation. This makes the Romo A2 and P2 better equipped to pick up dust, pet hair, debris, and dirt from carpets, hard floors, and difficult-to-reach corners.

Navigation has also been improved. DJI has equipped both models with a high-precision LiDAR sensor that offers a 123-degree swivel range. This allows the robot vacuums to scan more accurately and reach deeper under furniture, extending cleaning coverage by up to 7.8 cm farther and 4.5 cm deeper compared with earlier models.

The Romo A2 and Romo P2 also come with robotic legs underneath, giving them the ability to climb over obstacles up to 8.5 cm high. This should help the vacuums move more smoothly across thresholds, rugs, small steps, and other common household obstacles without getting stuck as easily.

Another major improvement is the upgraded self-cleaning base station. DJI says the new Romo 2 series can support up to 365 days of maintenance-free operation, a notable increase from the 200-day claim of the previous Romo models. For users who want a robot vacuum that requires minimal attention, this could be one of the most appealing features.

The AI-powered cleaning system is designed to adapt to different home environments and cleaning scenarios. Combined with millimeter-level obstacle detection, the robot vacuums can recognize objects more accurately and improve performance over time by learning from previous cleaning sessions.

DJI has also focused on quieter operation. During quiet mopping, the Romo A2 and Romo P2 operate at around 38 dB, making them suitable for use during work hours, evenings, or in homes where noise levels matter. Charging is also relatively fast, with 55W fast charging allowing the vacuums to fully recharge in about 2.5 hours.

Privacy and data control are also part of the new feature set. DJI is adding a local data mode that can disconnect the DJI Home app from the internet, helping prevent photos or videos from being unintentionally synced with external servers. This feature is expected to become available by the end of 2026. Users will also be able to turn off the camera and microphone through the app whenever needed, as well as delete shared personal data at any time.

In terms of pricing, the DJI Romo P2 water tank version is priced at EUR 1,299, which is approximately $1,505. The DJI Romo A2 water tank version is priced at EUR 1,199, or around $1,390.

DJI has not confirmed an exact release date yet, but the company says the Romo A2 and Romo P2 will be available globally in September through its official sales channels and Amazon. For the German market, DJI is offering early bird discounts from September 9 to September 30. During this promotional period, the Romo P2 will be available for EUR 1,059, or roughly $1,227, while the Romo A2 will be available for EUR 1,049, or about $1,215.

With stronger suction, smarter AI navigation, improved obstacle climbing, quieter mopping, and up to a year of hands-free maintenance, the DJI Romo A2 and Romo P2 are positioned as premium robot vacuum options for users who want a more automated and intelligent home cleaning experience.
