Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.31 makes AutoDrive smarter, Photo Mode more flexible, and performance a little tighter on PC and Mac
CD Projekt Red may have delivered its final major content drop for Cyberpunk 2077 back in July with update 2.3, but the studio isn’t done smoothing out the experience. The latest patch focuses on quality-of-life improvements, refining the new AutoDrive system, expanding Photo Mode options, and tightening up visuals with ray-tracing optimizations.
AutoDrive is the star of this update. Introduced in 2.3 to let you sit back and enjoy Night City while your vehicle handles the commute, it sometimes got stuck behind stationary cars and made jerky, stop-and-go turns. Patch 2.31 fixes those rough edges. Your ride can now overtake stopped vehicles, maintain better speeds, and take corners more smoothly to deliver a more natural, reliable cruise across the city. There’s also a smart tweak to behavior at intersections: when you set a waypoint, AutoDrive won’t sit at red lights; in Free Roam, it follows traffic rules for a more immersive, law-abiding drive.
Photo Mode gets a welcome update too. The new poses added in 2.3 now work across all genders, giving every player the same creative toolkit. NPC collisions are disabled while shooting, making it easier to set up clean compositions and position V exactly where you want without passersby bumping your shot. The patch also resolves several quest-related issues that could interfere with capturing the perfect image.
On the technical side, PC and Mac players benefit from optimizations to Ray-Traced Reflections. Expect more efficient rendering and steadier performance when you enable the most demanding visual features, helping Night City look its best without unnecessary hitches.
While no major expansions are planned, it’s clear the developers are committed to polishing what’s already there. Beyond this update, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in active development, with the project moving into pre-production earlier this year after more than two years of groundwork. It’s still several years out, but there’s already excitement around the possibility of Keanu Reeves returning as Johnny Silverhand.
If you’ve been waiting for a smoother AutoDrive experience or more creative freedom in Photo Mode, patch 2.31 is a great reason to dive back into Night City. Take a hands-free ride to your next gig, grab some cinematic shots, and enjoy a sleeker, smarter version of Cyberpunk 2077.
