Citizen’s Limited-Edition Promaster Bullhead Racing Chronograph Returns to the UK Store

Citizen Promaster Bullhead Racing Chronograph Returns to UK Store, But Lower Prices Are Available Elsewhere

The Citizen Promaster Bullhead Racing Chronograph AV0106-01L has returned to Citizen’s UK online store after being unavailable there earlier this year. The limited-edition model is now listed at £895 and appears prominently among the brand’s latest arrivals, giving collectors another chance to buy directly from Citizen.

However, shoppers may want to compare prices before paying the full UK retail price. While Citizen’s own store has only just restocked the model, the watch never fully vanished from the market. Authorized UK retailers such as First Class Watches and F.Hinds have continued to list the AV0106-01L, meaning the shortage was mainly limited to Citizen’s own UK sales channel rather than the entire release.

The AV0106-01L was introduced in August 2025 as a worldwide limited edition of 4,973 unnumbered pieces. That figure makes it more widely available than the earlier orange AV0074-05X version, which was limited to 1,973 pieces in reference to the original 1973 Citizen Bullhead chronograph that inspired the modern design. The blue edition’s larger production run gives buyers a better chance of finding one, even a year after launch.

For buyers focused on value, the £895 UK price is not necessarily the lowest available. Some marketplace and grey-market sellers are listing the same reference for significantly less. Jomashop has shown the model at $749, while an unworn example on Chrono24 has been listed at around £637. That is roughly 29% below the official UK store price.

There is a trade-off, though. Buying through non-authorized sellers can affect warranty coverage, return options and after-sales support. For some collectors, the savings may be worth it. For others, the security of buying directly from Citizen or an approved retailer may justify the higher price.

Part of the AV0106-01L’s appeal comes from its distinctive Bullhead layout. Unlike a traditional chronograph, the crown and pushers are positioned at the top of the case rather than on the side. This design gives the watch its “Bullhead” nickname and creates a motorsport-inspired look that stands out immediately on the wrist.

The watch features a blue dial with racing-style details, a tachymeter scale and a power reserve indicator designed to resemble a fuel gauge. It also includes a 1/5-second flyback chronograph capable of measuring up to 12 hours, along with an alarm, date display and 200 metres of water resistance. The black perforated leather strap adds to the vintage racing character and is fitted with a push-button deployment clasp.

There are a few specification inconsistencies worth noting. Citizen UK’s product description refers to a flat sapphire crystal, while another technical section lists it as spherical. Case sizing also varies slightly by market, with the UK listing giving the diameter as 45 mm and some US retail listings stating 44.5 mm. The UK page does not name the movement caliber, but US sellers identify it as the Citizen Eco-Drive E210.

Despite those small inconsistencies, the Citizen Promaster Bullhead Racing Chronograph AV0106-01L remains a strong option for fans of retro motorsport watches, Eco-Drive technology and limited-edition Citizen chronographs. Its bold case shape, practical feature set and heritage-inspired styling make it one of the more characterful Promaster releases in recent years.

At £895 from Citizen UK, it is not the cheapest way to buy the watch. But for collectors who want the official retail experience, the restock is welcome news. For bargain hunters, the same limited-edition Bullhead can still be found elsewhere at a notable discount, provided they are comfortable with the potential differences in warranty and seller support.
