Citizen is expanding its NJ022 lineup in Europe with two newly available automatic watches and a third model confirmed for release soon. The new additions include the Citizen NJ0221-50E, NJ0220-52X, and the upcoming NJ0229-07A—three options that keep the same core mechanical platform while offering distinct dial and strap styles for different tastes.
At the heart of each NJ022 watch is Citizen’s mechanical 8210-B21 caliber. These are automatic models designed for everyday wear, offering up to a 40-hour power reserve. Citizen also notes daily accuracy of within about 20 seconds, which is a helpful benchmark for anyone considering an entry-level mechanical watch for daily rotation.
All three models share the same case design and sizing, making them a compact, wearable option for a wide range of wrists. Each watch features a silver-tone stainless steel case measuring 38.5 mm in diameter with an 11.52 mm overall thickness. The layout is clean and classic: three analog hands, a straightforward date display, and a fixed bezel. For durability, the NJ022 series is rated to 10 bar water resistance, suitable for regular daily exposure to water such as rain, handwashing, and swimming.
Where these watches really differ is in their styling. The Citizen NJ0229-07A stands out with a textured white dial accented by black and gold details, paired with a dusty pink urethane strap for a more fashion-forward look. The other two models lean toward a more traditional bracelet style with silver stainless steel straps. The NJ0221-50E features a black dial with white and silver detailing, while the NJ0220-52X opts for a green dial with similar white and silver accents—both offering a versatile, modern sports-classic feel.
Pricing in Europe is positioned to be approachable for shoppers looking for a mechanical Citizen automatic watch. The Citizen NJ0221-50E and NJ0220-52X are already available in EU markets such as the Netherlands for €249 each. The NJ0229-07A is expected to sell for €239, although Citizen hasn’t shared an exact release date yet.
For buyers comparing the NJ0221-50E vs NJ0220-52X, the decision will mostly come down to dial color preference—black for a more understated everyday option, or green for a bolder, on-trend look—since the specifications and bracelet style are otherwise aligned. Meanwhile, the NJ0229-07A offers a distinct alternative with its textured white dial and pink strap pairing, aimed at anyone who wants something less conventional while still keeping the benefits of an automatic movement and solid water resistance.
