Casio G-Shock GDG-B100 Mudman leak points to MIP display, step counter, and October reveal
Casio’s next Mudman could be one of the most interesting G-Shock releases of the year. New leaked renders of the unannounced Casio G-Shock GDG-B100 suggest the rugged watch will bring a modern MIP display to the Mudman line, along with fitness-focused features normally associated with G-Squad models.
The latest information points to an expected price of around $250 to $270, slightly higher than earlier estimates of $200 to $250. While Casio has not officially confirmed the model, the new details suggest the GDG-B100 could be announced as soon as October.
One of the biggest changes appears to be the display. The GDG-B100 is expected to become the first Mudman model with a Memory-in-Pixel display, a screen type known for excellent readability, sharp contrast, and efficient power use. This would make the new Mudman easier to read outdoors and more practical for everyday use compared with traditional digital LCD layouts.
The leaked caseback also reveals several important details. It reportedly shows a Carbon Core Guard structure, a stainless steel back, Thailand assembly, and module number 3587. The Carbon Core Guard construction should help keep the watch tough while reducing weight, which fits well with the Mudman’s reputation as a durable outdoor-focused G-Shock.
However, one feature appears to be missing: Tough Solar. The caseback does not show solar branding, and there is reportedly no sign of Tough Solar on the dial either. If accurate, the GDG-B100 will likely rely on a standard battery, possibly with an estimated life of around two years. That may disappoint some long-time G-Shock fans who prefer solar-powered Master of G models, but the efficient MIP display could still help keep battery performance reasonable.
Another key detail is the presence of an “Acceleration Sensor” marking. This strongly suggests the new Mudman will include a step counter. Instead of traditional outdoor sensors such as a compass or thermometer, the GDG-B100 seems to be leaning toward activity tracking and lifestyle features.
The rumored module is said to be similar to those used in Casio’s GBD-200 and GBD-300 models. If that proves true, the GDG-B100 may include Bluetooth connectivity, a pedometer, training functions, distance tracking, pace measurement, calorie tracking, a 100-hour stopwatch, interval timer, vibration alerts, phone notifications, and Life Log syncing through Casio’s smartphone app.
That would make the GDG-B100 a very unusual Mudman. Historically, Casio has kept the Mudman and G-Squad lines separate. Mudman watches are usually associated with mud resistance, rugged styling, and outdoor durability, while G-Squad models focus more on fitness and connected features. The GDG-B100 could blend both worlds, offering the look and toughness of a Mudman with the practical smart features of a training watch.
Three color options are expected at launch. The standard GDG-B100-1 appears to come in black. The GDG-B100-1A3 is shown with a dark green strap, while the GDG-B100-1A5 uses a sand-colored design. The straps also appear to feature a new texture, with repeated folded-line shapes inside a trapezoid-style pattern that continues around the display area.
Another eye-catching detail is the backlight. On the sand-colored version, the display appears to glow bright red in the leaked render. This may be caused by a polarizing film rather than a true red LED, although that detail remains unconfirmed. Either way, the effect gives the watch a tactical look and could help it stand out from other recent G-Shock releases.
A knurled button below the display also appears to control the backlight, adding to the tool-watch feel. Combined with the chunky Mudman case shape, textured strap, MIP display, and connected features, the GDG-B100 looks like it could become a strong option for buyers who want a rugged digital G-Shock with modern functionality.
For now, everything remains unofficial. Casio has not announced the G-Shock GDG-B100 Mudman, confirmed the price, listed specifications, or shared a release date. Still, the latest renders suggest the watch is close to launch, and October is currently the expected reveal window.
If the leaks are accurate, the Casio G-Shock GDG-B100 Mudman could be a major refresh for the Mudman series.
