Casio has revealed a new limited-edition G-Shock that is sure to catch the attention of collectors, retro gaming fans, and longtime followers of Nintendo’s Mother series. The new Casio G-Shock DW-5600MOT26-9 is a special Mother 3 collaboration created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved Japanese RPG.
The watch is based on the iconic square-shaped DW-5600 design, one of the most recognizable G-Shock silhouettes. For this collaboration, Casio gives the classic model a bright “sunflower yellow” finish, a direct tribute to one of Mother 3’s most memorable scenes: the sunflower field from Chapter 6. The color choice instantly gives the watch a warm, nostalgic look while making it stand out from standard G-Shock models.
Adding to the Mother 3 theme, the watch features a red accent around the digital display, referencing the signature color often associated with the Mother series. The Mother 3 logo is also printed below the dial, giving the piece a clear identity without overwhelming the clean DW-5600 layout.
One of the most charming details appears when the LED backlight is activated. Instead of a plain glow, the display reveals a pixel-art sunflower field behind the time readout. It is a small touch, but one that strongly connects the watch to the game’s emotional visual style and retro RPG roots.
The strap includes another fan-favorite reference: embossed Mr. Saturn characters. These quirky figures appear in different playful poses, including ladder games and bird fishing, adding personality to the design while keeping the watch wearable as an everyday accessory.
On the back, the stainless steel caseback is engraved with the word “Potential!” This is a nod to Mother 3’s battle system and gives the watch another layer of meaning for fans who know the game well. The caseback also includes copyright markings for Nintendo and series creator Shigesato Itoi.
The Casio G-Shock DW-5600MOT26-9 is the third collaboration between G-Shock and the Mother series, and the first in two years. Mother 3 originally launched in Japan on April 20, 2006, and despite strong fan demand over the years, it has never received an official Western release. That history makes this anniversary watch especially appealing to collectors outside Japan as well.
The limited-edition Mother 3 G-Shock is priced at ¥19,800, which is approximately $122. It is scheduled to release on July 17 as a Japan-exclusive lottery sale. Due to its anniversary theme, recognizable DW-5600 base, and strong connection to one of Japan’s most discussed RPGs, demand is expected to be high.
