Casio Reveals Limited-Edition Mother 3 G-Shock for the RPG’s 20th Anniversary
Casio has introduced a special Mother 3-themed G-Shock watch to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved cult RPG. The limited-edition model is based on the classic DW-5600 design and brings several memorable details from the game into a bold, collectible wristwatch.
The standout feature is its bright sunflower-yellow case and strap, a clear tribute to the sunflower fields seen in Chapter 6 of Mother 3. The red outline around the watch face adds another nostalgic touch, calling back to the game’s original box art and giving the design a vivid, retro-inspired look.
Fans will also spot pixel-art Mr. Saturn characters decorating the strap, adding a playful detail that fits perfectly with the game’s quirky charm. When the LED backlight is activated, the display reveals a hidden sunflower field graphic, making the watch feel even more connected to the emotional imagery of Mother 3.
Casio has also included a removable gold-tone wire guard over the display. This detail sets the anniversary model apart from earlier Mother-themed G-Shock releases and gives the watch a more distinctive collector-focused appearance.
On the back of the stainless steel case, the word “Potential!” is engraved, another thoughtful reference for fans. The watch also comes in a themed metal storage tin, making it suitable not only as everyday wear but also as a display piece for collectors of gaming memorabilia.
Despite its special design, the Mother 3 G-Shock keeps the durability that the DW-5600 line is known for. It features shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, and an estimated five-year battery life.
The limited-edition Mother 3 G-Shock is priced at ¥19,800, which is around $122. It will be available exclusively in Japan through a lottery system running from July 17 to July 30.
With its nostalgic design, hidden details, and strong connection to one of gaming’s most cherished RPGs, this Mother 3 anniversary G-Shock is likely to become a highly sought-after item among both G-Shock fans and retro game collectors.
