Casio G-Shock GM-S5600XG-1 Debuts With Rainbow Glass and Compact 5600 Design
Casio is preparing to release the G-Shock GM-S5600XG-1 in June 2026, and this new model is shaping up to be one of the more eye-catching compact G-Shock watches in the 5600 family. Designed in collaboration with XG, a seven-member international artist group known for blending J-POP and K-POP influences, the watch brings a stylish, performance-inspired look to Casio’s tough digital watch lineup.
The GM-S5600XG-1 is based on the iconic square 5600 design, a shape closely tied to the original G-Shock identity. However, this version uses the smaller GM-S case, making it a better fit for those who prefer a more compact watch or have smaller wrists. The case measures 43.8 × 38.4 × 10.9 mm and weighs just 50 grams, making it noticeably slimmer and lighter than the standard 5600 models.
The biggest visual highlight is its rainbow vapor-deposited glass. This special treatment creates an iridescent color effect across the display, and because the process is applied individually, no two watches look exactly the same. Each unit has its own unique color gradation, giving the GM-S5600XG-1 a collectible feel while still keeping the rugged personality G-Shock fans expect.
Casio has kept the rest of the watch design clean and understated. The model features an all-black bezel, a black bio-based resin band, and subtle XG branding on the dial, band loop, and case back. The result is a watch that feels both low-profile and distinctive, with the rainbow display adding just enough flair without making the overall design too loud.
The GM-S5600XG-1 is part of a wider lineup that includes other color options, including a pink variant. Still, the black model with the rainbow-treated glass is likely to stand out the most, especially among collectors and fans looking for a compact G-Shock with a unique visual twist.
In terms of features, the watch delivers the familiar durability and practicality expected from the G-Shock series. It comes with shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, a Super Illuminator backlight, and a full auto-calendar programmed through the year 2099. It runs on a CR1616 battery with an estimated battery life of around three years.
Casio has not yet confirmed the official price for the G-Shock GM-S5600XG-1. However, considering its collaboration status, compact metal-covered construction, and special rainbow vapor deposition finish, it is expected to cost more than a standard entry-level 5600 model.
With its smaller case size, all-black styling, unique rainbow display, and XG collaboration branding, the Casio G-Shock GM-S5600XG-1 could appeal to both longtime G-Shock collectors and new buyers looking for a durable digital watch with a fashion-forward edge. The watch is scheduled to go on sale in June 2026.
