Canyon Debuts Two Carbon-Frame, High-Power E-Bikes Packing Massive 800Wh Batteries

Canyon has rolled out two fresh high-performance electric mountain bikes in Europe, giving riders a choice between a nimble trail-focused machine and a tougher rig built for sending bigger lines. The new Canyon Spectral:ON and Canyon Torque:ON are designed for different kinds of rides, but they share the same core tech, including a powerful Shimano drive unit and a larger-capacity battery aimed at longer adventures.

The Canyon Spectral:ON is positioned as the brand’s trail e-bike for riders who want a balanced mix of climbing ability and quick handling. Canyon says it’s tuned for steep climbs, precise cornering, and fast after-work rides where agility matters. A mullet setup helps support that goal, adding a more playful, responsive feel on tight trails while still keeping stability where it counts.

For riders chasing bigger hits, Canyon’s Torque:ON targets a more aggressive e-mountain bike style. It’s made for big jumps and “party laps,” which typically means repeated downhill runs, rugged landings, and terrain that demands extra confidence and composure at speed.

Even though they’re aimed at different riding styles, both electric bikes use the Shimano EP801 motor paired with a new 800 Wh battery in an aluminum housing supplied by Darfon. Canyon lists performance figures of 600 W of power and 85 Nm of torque, along with up to 85 km (about 52.8 miles) of range on a single charge. The bikes are also said to support climbs totaling up to 1,900 meters, making them well suited for long, elevation-heavy days.

Canyon also highlights that this latest battery benefits from updated cell technology. Compared to the company’s previous generation pack, the new setup is claimed to deliver more power with higher efficiency, which can translate into better output under load and improved energy use across varied terrain.

Suspension travel helps separate these two models further. The Spectral:ON features 155 mm of travel via its triple-phase suspension design, paired with a 160 mm fork up front—an all-around trail configuration meant to stay efficient while still handling demanding descents. The Torque:ON steps things up for harder riding, offering 175 mm of rear travel and 180 mm of front travel for extra margin on rough trails, big compressions, and repeated impacts.

Pricing starts at €5,999 for the Spectral:ON CFR and €4,999 for the Torque:ON CF 9. Both e-bikes are available to buy now through Canyon’s official store. Canyon also plans to expand the lineup later this month with additional versions, including Spectral:ON CF 7, CF 8, CF 9, plus Torque:ON CF 7 and CF 8, giving more options across different component levels and budgets.
