Boox Palma 2 Pro Arrives: Pocketable Color E‑Reader with 5G and Stylus Support

Boox Palma 2 Pro launches globally with a color ePaper display, 5G dual SIM, and Android 15, bringing a phone-sized e-reader experience to more markets. This compact device takes the Palma line in a new direction, arriving as the international version of the P6 Pro Color sold in China, and positioning itself against rivals like the HiBreak Pro Color and the reMarkable Paper Pro Move.

The headline feature is its 6.13-inch Kaleido 3 color ePaper screen, capable of rendering up to 4,096 colors. Text remains crisp with 300 ppi in black and white, while color content displays at 150 ppi, making it a versatile pick for ebooks, manga, web articles, magazines, PDFs, and comics. The screen is protected by glass and includes a front light with adjustable warmth for comfortable reading day or night.

Stylus support expands its utility for work and study. Pair it with the InkSense Plus Stylus (sold separately) to annotate documents, highlight passages, and jot notes in multiple pen styles and colors.

For connectivity, the Palma 2 Pro is the first in the series to offer 5G. A hybrid slot lets you choose between two SIM cards or one SIM plus a microSD card. It’s important to note that the device uses data-only SIMs, so traditional voice calls and SMS aren’t supported, though the built-in receiver, dual microphones, and speaker make it well-suited for data-based calling and audio via supported apps.

Under the hood, an octa-core processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable by up to 2TB with a microSD card. There’s a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button, dedicated volume/page-turn keys, and a smart button on the left side for quick actions. A 16MP rear camera with LED flash adds document scanning and quick captures to the mix, and the casing features a water-repellent design for extra peace of mind.

Power comes from a 3,950mAh battery. The USB-C port supports USB OTG and USB audio, widening accessory compatibility. Out of the box, the Palma 2 Pro runs Android 15 with Google Play preinstalled, so you can download your favorite reading apps, note tools, and productivity suites without sideloading.

Pricing and availability: pre-orders are open at $399.99 or €399.99 in black or white, with general release set for November 7. A magnetic protective case is included. The InkSense Plus Stylus costs $45.99, bringing the total to about $446 if you want pen input. That puts it a few dollars under the reMarkable Paper Pro Move. While that competitor includes a stylus in the box, its folio cases are an additional purchase.
