Ayaneo is gearing up to expand its lineup with a couple of fresh devices, and one of the most eye-catching is the Pocket Play, a gaming phone clearly inspired by the classic Xperia Play concept. Part of Ayaneo’s Remake series, the Pocket Play was first teased in early December 2025, and the company has been gradually revealing key details ever since. Now, new teasers have filled in more of the picture, giving mobile gaming fans a better idea of what to expect.
One of the latest updates is about style and customization. Ayaneo has confirmed the Pocket Play will launch in three color options. The brand previously showed off black and white versions, but it has now officially revealed a bold red edition as well. If you like your gaming hardware to stand out, the red model looks like it’s designed to do exactly that.
Ayaneo also shared more about the haptics, an area that can make or break the feel of a gaming-focused smartphone. The Pocket Play will include an 0815 X-axis linear motor with four vibration modes, aimed at delivering more immersive tactile feedback. That should help with everything from racing games and shooters to rhythm titles where subtle vibration cues add to the experience.
On the performance side, Ayaneo has confirmed the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300. While this chipset choice may not impress everyone expecting the absolute newest option, Ayaneo appears to be leaning heavily into sustained performance to make the most of the hardware. The company says the Pocket Play will pair the processor with a performance-focused air cooler, and the design is intended to push heat away from the grip area. In other words, it’s aiming for longer play sessions without your hands being the first to feel the temperature climb.
Connectivity and expansion are also getting attention, which is good news for anyone who uses a phone as both a handheld gaming machine and a daily device. Ayaneo has confirmed a USB-C port with USB 3.2 Gen support, along with DisplayPort 1.4 for external display output. The Pocket Play will also include WiFi and Bluetooth 5, plus a SIM slot for mobile connectivity. For storage, there’s a dedicated microSD card slot, giving users an easy way to expand space for large game installs, emulators, media files, and captures.
If you missed earlier reveals, the display specs are already out as well. The Pocket Play is set to feature a 6.8-inch OLED screen with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a smooth 165Hz refresh rate—a combination that should look sharp and feel responsive in fast-paced games. The main hook, though, is the physical gaming control setup: slide-out controls with touchpads that can function like virtual joysticks, blending classic handheld ergonomics with modern touch-friendly flexibility.
Ayaneo still hasn’t confirmed the launch date or pricing, but with specs continuing to roll out, those final details may not be far behind. For now, the Pocket Play is shaping up to be a feature-packed gaming phone that mixes nostalgia-inspired design with a high-refresh OLED screen, physical controls, active cooling, and a surprisingly robust set of ports and expansion options.
