Ayaneo Pocket Micro 2 Is Officially on the Way, Promising a More Powerful Compact Android Handheld
Ayaneo has confirmed that the Pocket Micro 2 is in development, giving fans of compact retro-style handhelds something new to look forward to. The upcoming device will serve as the true successor to the original Ayaneo Pocket Micro, a small horizontal Android gaming handheld inspired by the classic Game Boy Micro design.
The company has not yet shared official images, specifications, pricing, or a release date for the Pocket Micro 2. However, its announcement strongly suggests that a reveal may be coming soon. Ayaneo teased the new handheld through its social channels, hinting that the next model could bring a notable performance upgrade over the original Pocket Micro.
The first Ayaneo Pocket Micro launched more than two years ago as a premium compact Android handheld. It featured a horizontal layout, thumbsticks, an aluminum shell, and a glass front, making it stand out in a market filled with plastic retro gaming devices. In 2025, Ayaneo followed it with the Pocket Micro Classic, a more affordable version that removed the thumbsticks while keeping the same general pocket-friendly concept.
Now, the Pocket Micro 2 appears to be positioned as a proper next-generation upgrade rather than just another budget revision. While Ayaneo has not confirmed the chipset, the teaser points toward a more powerful processor than the MediaTek Helio G99 used in both the Pocket Micro and Pocket Micro Classic. One possible candidate could be a newer Snapdragon gaming-focused chip, which would make sense for a compact Android handheld designed for emulation, cloud gaming, and native Android titles.
There is also some mystery surrounding another Ayaneo device that recently appeared online under the name Ayaneo Bitwave. That handheld reportedly features a horizontal design, a polycarbonate body, and no thumbsticks. Based on those details, it seems more likely to be a lower-cost model rather than the Pocket Micro 2 itself.
The original Pocket Micro used more premium materials, including aluminum and glass, so expectations are high that the Pocket Micro 2 will continue that design language. If Ayaneo keeps the premium build while improving performance, the new model could appeal strongly to retro gaming fans who want a compact device without sacrificing quality.
It is also possible that the Bitwave could launch as a more affordable alternative to the Pocket Micro 2. Ayaneo has been expanding its product lineup across multiple price points, and the company may use its Konkr sub-brand for more budget-focused gaming handhelds. For now, however, Ayaneo has not confirmed how the Bitwave fits into its future lineup.

The Pocket Micro 2 is not the only Ayaneo handheld generating interest. The company also previously unveiled the Konkr Pocket Block, a vertical handheld that remains largely mysterious. Ayaneo has not yet provided full specifications, pricing, or availability details for that model either.
