Ayaneo has officially introduced the Konkr Pocket Advance, a compact Android gaming handheld clearly inspired by the classic Game Boy Advance design, but upgraded with modern hardware, emulation features, and a budget-friendly price.
The new horizontal handheld is now available for pre-order and is aimed at retro gaming fans who want a portable device with familiar styling and more powerful performance than the original handhelds of the early 2000s. With a small form factor, colorful design options, and support for Android gaming and emulation, the Konkr Pocket Advance is shaping up to be one of Ayaneo’s most accessible gaming devices yet.
The Konkr Pocket Advance features a 3.5-inch high-definition LCD display with a 960 × 640 resolution. The screen uses a 3:2 aspect ratio, which makes it especially suitable for Game Boy Advance-style gameplay. Ayaneo also highlights 4x pixel scaling, designed to help retro games appear sharper and cleaner on the compact display.
Powering the handheld is MediaTek’s Helio G90T processor. This chip is not positioned as a flagship mobile processor, but it should provide enough performance for a wide range of classic console emulation. According to Ayaneo, the Konkr Pocket Advance is capable of emulating games up to the PlayStation 2 era, making it much more versatile than its nostalgic exterior might suggest.
The device will be sold in two configurations. The entry-level model includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, while the higher-end version comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Both models include a microSD card slot, allowing users to expand storage for more games, apps, and media.
Battery life should be helped by a 4,000mAh battery, a solid capacity for a handheld of this size. The Konkr Pocket Advance also includes Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, stereo speakers, a headphone jack, and a gyroscope. For improved performance during longer gaming sessions, Ayaneo has also included a cooling fan and an active cooling system. A rotor motor is included as well, adding vibration feedback for supported games.
On the software side, the handheld runs Android 12 with Ayaneo’s custom interface layered on top. This should give users access to Android apps, emulators, game launchers, and other mobile gaming tools, while also offering a more handheld-focused experience than a standard Android phone.
Ayaneo previously confirmed Navy and Coral color options for the Konkr Pocket Advance, and it has now added a third color: Grey. The three-color lineup gives buyers a bit more variety, whether they prefer a classic, playful, or more understated look.
Pricing is one of the most attractive parts of the Konkr Pocket Advance. During the pre-order period, Ayaneo is offering a $20 discount. That brings the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model down to $89, while the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version is priced at $109.
After the pre-order promotion ends, regular pricing will rise to $109 for the base model and $129 for the upgraded version. Ayaneo says availability is limited, and shipping is expected to begin at the end of August.
Ayaneo will also offer official accessories for the handheld. A carrying case will be sold for $13.90, while a tempered glass screen protector will cost $8.90. The company has also shown an eco-friendly paper stand and a cleaning cloth, although pricing for those items has not yet been confirmed.
With its Game Boy Advance-inspired shape, Android 12 software, expandable storage, compact screen, and PS2-level emulation ambitions, the Ayaneo Konkr Pocket Advance could appeal to retro gaming enthusiasts looking for an affordable and pocketable handheld. Its low starting price makes it especially interesting in a market where many dedicated gaming handhelds are becoming increasingly expensive.
