Apple Vision Pro 2: Anticipated 2025 Launch Promises Significant Enhancements

Apple is gearing up to launch the next iteration of the Vision Pro headset by the end of the year, according to reports from reliable sources. Although major overhauls might not be seen until 2027, this new mixed-reality device is expected to come equipped with two important enhancements.

Powered by the Apple M2 chip, the original Vision Pro didn’t exactly make waves in the tech world when it debuted in February 2024. Its lukewarm reception has been attributed to its hefty starting price of $3,499. Recent insights suggest that the upcoming version will feature minor tweaks in design and specifications. One notable upgrade is a redesigned headband aimed at boosting comfort for long-duration usage.

While the Apple M5 chip might hit the market in the latter half of 2025, the new headset is expected to still use the Apple M4, an ARM chip initially launched with the iPad Pro. Even though Bloomberg doesn’t anticipate these updates to dramatically improve the Vision Pro’s market performance, the enhancements, paired with software updates in visionOS 26, could make the device more appealing to developers and enterprise users.

For broader consumer adoption, a richer app ecosystem will be essential, potentially paving the way for a more consumer-focused headset codenamed “N100,” which could launch in 2027. This model is rumored to be lighter and more cost-effective. Additionally, Apple is reportedly exploring the development of smart glasses without displays but packed with speakers, microphones, cameras, and crucially, AI capabilities.

With a focus on attracting developers and possibly reshaping how mixed reality is perceived, Apple appears committed to advancing its headset offerings, even as the market eagerly awaits more transformative changes in the years to come.
