The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, initially released with Android 11 in 2021, is now receiving a substantial update that brings Android 14 to the budget-friendly tablet. Samsung is beginning this rollout in its home country of South Korea, but availability will expand to other regions soon.
This new update, tagged with firmware version T225NKOU8EXH2, not only introduces Android 14 but also debuts Samsung’s One UI 6.1 on the device. This marks the third significant operating system upgrade for the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and will likely be its final update. Additionally, the update includes the security patch for July 2024.
One UI 6.1 unveils several exciting features. Users can now edit wallpapers and customize alarms and the calendar app with various wallpapers, emojis, images, videos, and stickers. In the gallery app, photos and videos can be categorized by albums, faces, and places. Another notable feature is the synchronization of tab groups from the Samsung Internet browser app with Galaxy smartphones.
The update also introduces Battery Protection, allowing users to select from three different battery protection options. The Basic protection prevents the battery from dropping below 95% when plugged in. Adaptive protection limits charging to 80%, gradually reaching 100% close to wake-up time. Maximum protection maintains the battery at 80%.
While the precise schedule for the global rollout remains unspecified, it’s expected to begin shortly. For those seeking a newer, budget-friendly tablet, the Galaxy Tab A9, available at an affordable price point, is a worthy consideration.
