Samsung has been actively expanding its tablet portfolio over the last six months, launching a variety of devices catering to different market segments, from the budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A9 to the high-end Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Yet, the tech giant isn’t resting on its laurels and seems to be gearing up to introduce another affordable tablet option for consumers.
The company’s current array of tablets includes the entry-level Galaxy Tab A9 and its slightly enhanced counterpart, the Galaxy Tab A9+, which boasts a larger and smoother display. In the mid-range segment, the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series strikes a balance between affordability and premium features. However, Samsung is apparently looking to fill a gap with a new device that should nestle comfortably between the Galaxy Tab A9 series and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series.
A mysterious tablet with the model number SM-P620 recently surfaced on the Geekbench database, giving us a sneak peek into some of its technical details. The device achieved a score of 930 in the single-core CPU performance test and 1,843 in the multi-core CPU performance test.

While the actual name of the upcoming tablet remains under wraps and could be anything from the Galaxy Tab S9 Lite to the Galaxy Tab S8 Lite, the Geekbench data reveals that it is powered by the Exynos 1280 chipset. This 5nm processor is equipped with a combination of two high-performance CPU cores and six efficiency cores, suggesting the tablet could deliver a decent balance of power and energy savings. Accompanying the processor, the tablet is set to come with 4GB of RAM and the Android 14 OS.
The positioning of this new Samsung tablet is intriguing. It boasts a newer processor than the Galaxy Tab A9+, but with fewer high-performance CPU cores compared to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE, indicating that it could fit perfectly in the space between these two models. Given its recent appearance in benchmark listings, the anticipation is that Samsung will launch this tablet before the year’s end.
