AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D drops to $399 in one of the best gaming CPU deals right now
If you have been waiting for the right moment to upgrade your gaming PC, this could be the deal worth watching. The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, widely regarded as one of the fastest gaming processors available, has fallen to $399 at Newegg after a $70 discount with promo code GFF36.
That makes this one of the lowest prices seen for the chip this year, giving PC builders and gamers a strong opportunity to move to a high-end AM5 gaming setup without paying the usual premium.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is built on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture and features an 8-core, 16-thread configuration. Its biggest advantage is AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, which gives the processor a major edge in gaming workloads. For players who want higher frame rates, smoother performance, and excellent efficiency, this CPU remains one of the best choices on the market.
Although its standard price sits closer to $469, the current Newegg promo brings it down to $399. For a processor that launched at $479, this discount makes it far more attractive, especially for anyone building a new gaming PC or upgrading from an older Ryzen platform.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D also makes a lot of sense from a value perspective. Modern PC components such as graphics cards, DDR5 memory, SSDs, and motherboards can quickly push a build budget higher. Saving money on the processor while still getting flagship-level gaming performance is a smart move.
It is also worth noting that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D offers better value than the newer Ryzen 7 9850X3D for many buyers. The Ryzen 7 9850X3D may be slightly faster in some cases, but the performance difference is reportedly very small, often around 1% to 2%, while the price is usually much higher. For most gamers, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will deliver nearly the same real-world experience for less money.
Another advantage is platform flexibility. You do not need an ultra-expensive motherboard to get the most out of this CPU. Pairing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D with a solid B650 or B850 motherboard can create a powerful and balanced gaming system. Users who enjoy tuning their hardware may also be able to extract extra performance through overclocking and optimization.
For buyers who still want the slightly faster option, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D is also discounted. It is currently listed at $484 at Newegg, but a $65 promo code brings the price down to $419. At that price, it becomes a more tempting upgrade, especially for those who want every bit of performance possible while staying on an 8-core, 16-thread gaming CPU.
There are also good deals available on previous-generation AMD X3D processors. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D, still considered one of the best gaming CPUs from the Zen 4 lineup, is available for $339 with a $50 promo code. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 7 7700X3D has dropped to $299, making it a strong budget-friendly option for gamers who want to join the AM5 platform without spending as much on a Zen 5 chip.
