The latest buzz in the tech world is about AMD’s upcoming Ryzen AI Refresh series, as revealed by a recent NBD shipment log. This exciting development shows two new processors in the works featuring 10-core and 12-core configurations.
The processors, tentatively named Ryzen AI 9 HX 475 and Ryzen AI 9 HX 465, are speculated to be part of AMD’s refreshed Gorgon Point APUs. These will be based on the Zen 5 architecture with enhancements over the current Strix Point models.
According to insiders, the new Gorgon Point series will continue using the FP8 socket, unlike the future Zen 6 Medusa Point, which is expected to utilize a larger FP10 package. Although the CPUs will maintain the Zen 5 architecture, users can anticipate a boost in AI performance, reaching up to 55+ AI TOPS compared to the existing 50 AI NPU TOPS.
In addition to performance improvements, the lineup will expand to include more SKUs, potentially featuring higher core clocks, alongside a range of options from R9 to R3 chips, catering to different user needs. This refresh sets the stage for a slew of advancements while ensuring versatility for various computing tasks. Stay tuned for more updates as AMD gears up for a likely near-future release.
