Amazfit is already rolling out the first major software update for its new T-Rex Ultra 2, a premium rugged smartwatch that debuted in mid-February 2026. Known for its big 51 mm case and large 870 mAh battery, the T-Rex Ultra 2 is now getting new features and performance upgrades through firmware version 3.1.6.1.
One of the most noticeable additions is an upgraded flashlight tool with two color options: white and green. This gives users a more flexible light source for nighttime use, whether you’re checking gear in a tent, navigating a dark trail, or trying to preserve night visibility.
The update also introduces voice memos, letting you capture quick notes even while you’re in the middle of a workout. There are a couple of limitations, though: voice memos won’t work during fishing activities or when you’re underwater. Alongside that, Amazfit has added a new Night Vision mode shortcut to the Control Center, making it faster to access when conditions change.
Navigation and mapping also get a meaningful boost in this release. Firmware version 3.1.6.1 expands coordinate formats and systems, which can help users who rely on specific mapping standards for hiking, outdoor exploration, or training routes. On top of that, the update adds offline route planning support, improving usability when you’re away from signal coverage.
For fitness and sports tracking, Amazfit is adding several features that will likely appeal to serious outdoor athletes and adventure-focused users. The T-Rex Ultra 2 now includes a Recreational Scuba Diving activity mode, expanding its supported workout profiles. The update also brings BioCharge energy level monitoring, a popular tool for tracking your body’s energy and readiness based on health and activity signals.
Runners get a standout upgrade too: Grade-Adjusted Pace is now available for Outdoor Running and Trail Running. This metric is designed to account for elevation changes, offering a more realistic look at running effort when tackling hills and uneven terrain—useful for anyone training on routes where incline can dramatically impact pace.
To install firmware version 3.1.6.1 on the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2, users can download it through the Zepp app on iOS or Android. Open the app and navigate to Profile, then select T-Rex Ultra 2, and choose System Update to check for the rollout. Availability may vary by region and could arrive in stages, depending on your device and account.
