Amazfit Rolls Out Major Smartwatch Update Introducing New Map Feature

Amazfit is rolling out a new major software update for the Balance 2 XT smartwatch, and it brings several meaningful upgrades focused on maps, music, and workout insights.

The new firmware, version 2.17.0.4, arrives not long after a smaller update (version 2.16.2.1) that focused on optimizing weather data. This time, however, the changes are far more noticeable day to day—especially if you use your watch for training or navigation.

One of the standout additions is Workout Audio Alerts. During exercise sessions, the Balance 2 XT can now play helpful audio cues to keep you informed and focused, using the watch’s built-in speaker or connected headphones. This makes it easier to stay on track without constantly checking your wrist for stats.

Music gets an upgrade too. With firmware 2.17.0.4, the Music app now supports audio from third-party sources, giving users more flexibility in how they listen while working out or on the move.

Fitness tracking is also getting smarter. The Balance 2 XT now includes a Lactate Threshold metric, a training-focused stat designed to help you better understand workout intensity and your endurance level. It’s a useful addition for runners, cyclists, and anyone who wants more structured insight into performance without needing extra gear.

Maps and routing are another key theme of this update. Alongside map-related improvements, Amazfit is adding a Route Planning tool. You can create routes directly on the watch or plan them in the Zepp app, which should make it easier to prepare for runs, walks, hikes, and other outdoor workouts.

Firmware version 2.17.0.4 is rolling out in phases, so it may not appear for every user at the same time. When it reaches your region, you’ll be able to download and install it through the Zepp app.
