After Reviving N64 Classics on PC, Modders Set Their Sights on GameCube With Twilight Princess First

Harbour Masters Expands Beyond Nintendo 64 as Twilight Princess PC Port Nears Release

Harbour Masters, the fan development group known for creating polished native PC ports of classic Nintendo 64 games, is now moving into a new era. After working on titles such as Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, and Star Fox 64, the team has expanded its tools to support GameCube projects, and its first major effort is already making impressive progress.

The group has been updating its custom Libultraship translation layer, a toolset previously focused on Nintendo 64 games, so it can also support GameCube titles. This shift could open the door for more native PC ports of beloved GameCube classics in the future, with modern features that go far beyond simple emulation.

The first major result of this expansion is Twilight Princess: Courage Reborn, a native PC port based on the GameCube version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The project is being led by Linifadomra’s team, with Harbour Masters providing technical support, development assistance, and long-term maintenance.

According to the latest project details, Twilight Princess: Courage Reborn is already close to release. Current builds reportedly run at a stable 60 frames per second and include full keyboard and mouse support. Most of the core work appears to be finished, with only smaller cutscene issues and final polish remaining before the port is ready for wider availability.

Harbour Masters has clarified that Linifadomra’s team will continue to maintain creative control over the project. Harbour Masters’ role is to assist with development, support the technical framework, and help give the project greater visibility. The team has also noted that Courage Reborn is separate from another Twilight Princess PC project known as Twilight Princess: Dusklight.

What makes Courage Reborn especially exciting for fans is its focus on modern PC gaming features. The port is expected to include widescreen support, higher and unlocked resolutions, uncapped frame rates, improved texture packs, and mod compatibility. These upgrades could make the classic adventure feel far more at home on modern hardware while preserving the original GameCube experience.

Additional quality-of-life features are also being discussed, including mouse aiming, gyro aiming, accessibility options, and in-game menus that allow players to adjust settings without leaving the game. These improvements could make Twilight Princess: Courage Reborn one of the most feature-rich fan-made PC ports of a classic console game to date.

The team is also exploring the possibility of bringing the project to mobile devices and Switch homebrew environments in the future, although the PC version remains the main focus for now.

For fans of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, this project is shaping up to be a major moment. A native PC version with smoother performance, modern display options, flexible controls, and mod support could give one of the most beloved Zelda games a fresh life on current hardware. If Harbour Masters’ previous work is any indication, Courage Reborn could become one of the most notable classic game PC port projects to watch.
