8BitDo’s 64 Bluetooth Controller Goes Classic Gray—Shipping Pushed to 2026

8BitDo’s 64 Bluetooth Controller now comes in a Classic Gray finish, and it’s a love letter to the original Nintendo 64 look. It also costs a bit more than the existing color options and won’t land for a while.

First introduced in October 2024 as the official controller for the Analogue 3D console, the 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller itself was delayed before arriving in July 2025 in Black and White. The new Classic Gray variant brings the nostalgia factor: a gray shell, red Start button, yellow C-buttons, green B button, blue A button, a dark gray D-pad and shoulder buttons, plus a light gray joystick cap—just like the N64 era.

Under the hood, nothing changes. The Classic Gray model offers the same features and performance as the Black and White versions, so this refresh is all about aesthetics and retro appeal.

Price is where things differ. While the Black and White controllers launched at $39.99 and are sometimes discounted to around $31.99 at major retailers, the Classic Gray version is listed at $44.99. You’re paying a small premium for the vintage colorway.

Availability looks limited, too. The Classic Gray edition appears to be exclusive to the 8BitDo eShop, with the product page showing a January 30 ship date and broader guidance that it won’t be available until 2026. Expect a wait if you want the authentic N64-style finish.

If you’re pairing with Analogue’s 3D console, the Classic Gray controller could be the perfect match—especially if a console in a similar shade becomes available. Until then, the Black and White models remain the more affordable and accessible choices.

Bottom line: the Classic Gray 8BitDo 64 Bluetooth Controller delivers nostalgic design, identical functionality, a slight price premium, and a longer lead time. Retro fans who value the look will likely find it worth the wait.
