8BitDo Teases New Gears of War: E-Day Keyboard and Mouse in Xbox Collaboration
8BitDo is preparing to expand its Gears of War lineup with two new themed accessories created in partnership with Xbox. The company has teased an upcoming reveal tied to Gears of War: E-Day, and while the products have not been officially named yet, the teaser strongly suggests that a special-edition mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse are on the way.
The short teaser video sets the tone with a ruined city scene that fits perfectly with the gritty atmosphere of the Gears of War franchise. Soon after, two shadowy product silhouettes appear on screen. For fans familiar with 8BitDo’s recent hardware lineup, the shapes are easy to recognize: they appear to match the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard and the Retro R8 Mouse.
This would not be 8BitDo’s first Gears of War-themed accessory. In August, the company introduced a wireless charging dock for Xbox wireless controllers inspired by the upcoming game. That charging dock is expected to launch in October, but it now looks like 8BitDo has more planned for fans who want a complete Gears of War gaming setup.
The upcoming keyboard is likely to be based on the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Xbox Edition. If 8BitDo follows the same approach used for some of its previous themed releases, the Gears of War edition could include more than just a new paint job.
