Asus Zenbook A16 UX3607QA Gets Wider Release With a Lower Starting Price
Asus is expanding availability of the more affordable Zenbook A16 UX3607QA, giving buyers in more regions a cheaper way to get a 16-inch OLED laptop with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform. The new model arrives as a lower-cost alternative to the more premium Zenbook A16 configuration, but the price cut comes with several important compromises.
At the center of the UX3607QA is the Snapdragon X X1-26-100 processor. This is an 8-core chip also used in the entry-level Zenbook A14, positioning the laptop as a more efficiency-focused option rather than a performance powerhouse. Compared with the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme X2E-94-100 found in the higher-end Zenbook A16, the Snapdragon X chip is significantly slower, with performance roughly half as fast in benchmark comparisons.
The cheaper Zenbook A16 does have one physical advantage: it is around 100 grams lighter than the more expensive version. That should make it slightly easier to carry despite its large 16-inch form factor. However, Asus has made several cuts elsewhere to reach the lower price.
Memory is one of the biggest differences. The UX3607QA includes 16 GB of RAM, while the premium Zenbook A16 offers three times as much memory. For everyday productivity, web browsing, streaming, and office work, 16 GB should still be enough for many users. But those who frequently multitask heavily, edit large files, or run demanding creative apps may prefer the higher-end model.
The display has also been scaled back. While the more expensive Zenbook A16 features a brighter 500-nit OLED panel with a 2.8K resolution and a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, the cheaper UX3607QA uses a dimmer, lower-resolution, and slower OLED screen. It should still deliver the deep blacks and strong contrast OLED laptops are known for, but users looking for the sharpest and most fluid visual experience will notice the difference.
Connectivity is another area where the budget-friendly version takes a step down. Instead of Wi-Fi 7, the UX3607QA comes with Wi-Fi 6E. That is still fast enough for most home and office networks, but it is less future-proof than the newer wireless standard included in the pricier configuration.
Pricing is where the new Zenbook A16 becomes more appealing. In Australia, the cheaper model is listed at AU 2,074, while in the UK it starts at £1,299, including taxes. By comparison, the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme-powered Zenbook A16 costs £2,099 in the UK. That means buyers choosing the UX3607QA can save around 38% compared with the premium version.
Overall, the Asus Zenbook A16 UX3607QA is aimed at users who want a large-screen OLED laptop with modern Snapdragon efficiency at a more accessible price. It gives up a lot compared with the higher-end Zenbook A16, including processor performance, RAM, display quality, and wireless connectivity. Still, for buyers focused on everyday computing, portability, battery-friendly performance, and a lower price, this cheaper 16-inch Zenbook could be an attractive option.
