Zotac has introduced a creative approach to tackling the issue of scalping for their latest RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards, making it easier for consumers in the United States to purchase these in-demand GPUs directly. This unique method requires potential buyers to engage actively on Zotac’s Discord server. Through participating in various community activities, challenges, and discussions, users increase their chances of being selected to buy one of these coveted graphics cards.
This initiative aims to mitigate the rapid buy-out of these graphics cards by scalpers, a problem reminiscent of the challenges faced during the launch of the 30 series GPUs in 2020. While this plan provides a potential solution, it currently serves only U.S. residents.
The purchasing opportunity is structured like a game where consistent, high-quality interaction in the community enhances one’s likelihood of being selected. However, it’s important to note that successful engagement only grants the opportunity to purchase a GPU, rather than being an outright win.
To ensure fairness, Zotac allows only one GPU purchase per household. Moreover, any individual found participating in scalping activities will face disqualification from future purchase raffles. Presently, the GeForce RTX 5080 is the only model available for purchase, with no updates provided on the availability of the RTX 5090.
By adopting this innovative strategy, Zotac seeks to foster a more equitable purchasing environment, giving dedicated fans and genuine customers a better chance to own their cutting-edge GPUs while deterring scalping behavior.
