Zenless Zone Zero Surpasses $600 Million in Mobile Revenue Ahead of Version 3.1 Reveal
Zenless Zone Zero has reached another major milestone, with HoYoverse’s fast-paced urban action RPG now exceeding $600 million in lifetime mobile revenue. Since its global launch on July 4, 2024, the game has generated approximately $603.9 million across iOS and Android, showing that its stylish combat, character-driven updates, and live-service model continue to attract a highly dedicated player base.
While the game’s early months were powered by massive launch excitement, its long-term performance suggests something just as important: Zenless Zone Zero has settled into a profitable and sustainable rhythm. The title may no longer be riding the same explosive wave it enjoyed during its debut year, but it remains one of HoYoverse’s strongest ongoing releases.
During its first year, Zenless Zone Zero earned around $442.1 million from mobile players. In its second year, spending slowed by about 51%, bringing in roughly $198.9 million. That drop is not unusual for a major live-service game after launch hype cools down, especially once the audience stabilizes and spending becomes more closely tied to major updates, new characters, and anniversary events.
Even so, mobile storefront data only shows part of the picture. Zenless Zone Zero is also available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and those platforms are not included in standard mobile revenue tracking. Additional purchases made through direct web stores and major third-party Android platforms in China are also not reflected in the mobile total. That means the game’s real global revenue is likely much higher than the reported iOS and Android figure.
Looking only at mobile, Zenless Zone Zero still averages more than $10 million per month, proving that it has carved out a strong position in the competitive action RPG and gacha game market. Its combination of polished animation, high-energy combat, urban fantasy storytelling, and frequent character releases continues to keep players engaged.
One of the most interesting details behind the game’s success is where its biggest audience is spending. Unlike some of HoYoverse’s other blockbuster titles, Zenless Zone Zero has found its most profitable mobile market in Japan. Japanese players account for about 42% of lifetime mobile spending, making Japan the game’s top revenue region. China follows with 27%, while the United States represents around 10%.
That international performance highlights Zenless Zone Zero’s distinct appeal. Its anime-inspired presentation, stylish city setting, and character-focused design have clearly resonated with Japanese players in a major way, helping the game stand apart from HoYoverse’s other franchises.
Major updates remain the biggest driver of revenue spikes. Version 3.0, titled “A Sleepwalker’s Confession,” launched in mid-June and delivered a noticeable boost in spending. The update introduced the sky island of Roscaelifer and brought highly anticipated S-Rank Agents Velina and Ye Shunguang to the game. Their debut banners helped push daily mobile revenue up by 217%, with spending peaking at around $1.7 million in a single day.
That surge shows how important new characters are to Zenless Zone Zero’s business model. Each major banner gives players a reason to return, spend, and engage with the latest story developments. For live-service games, these update cycles are essential, and HoYoverse continues to use them effectively.
Now, attention is turning toward Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.1. HoYoverse has confirmed that the Version 3.1 Special Program livestream, titled “The Long Goodbye,” will air on Friday, July 17, 2026. The broadcast is expected to reveal the next chapter of the game’s story, upcoming events, and the next wave of S-Rank Agents.
One of the most notable upcoming characters is Remielle Dan, a first-generation Void Hunter and S-Rank Agent set to debut in Version 3.1. Her introduction is already generating excitement among fans, especially as players look for clues about how she will fit into the game’s expanding lore and combat meta.
With more than $600 million in mobile revenue, a strong international audience, and another major update on the way, Zenless Zone Zero remains a major force in the action RPG space. Its revenue may have cooled from its launch-year peak, but the game’s consistent monthly performance and loyal player base show that HoYoverse has built another durable live-service success.
As Version 3.1 approaches, all eyes are on “The Long Goodbye” livestream and what it will reveal next. If the upcoming characters and story content land well with fans, Zenless Zone Zero could be set for another major boost in player activity and mobile spending.
