Xiaomi’s Next Mini Powerhouse Tablet Is About to Debut

Xiaomi looks ready to shake up the compact tablet space again with a new high-end model that’s expected to arrive soon. Rumored to be called the Redmi K Pad 2, the device would follow last year’s Redmi K Pad and go head-to-head with other performance-focused small tablets from competing brands.

One of the biggest signs that launch plans are moving forward is a recent certification in China. The listing reveals the tablet’s model number, 26048RP6AC, and also confirms a key spec that many buyers care about: fast charging. According to the certification, the Redmi K Pad 2 will support 67W wired charging, matching the charging speed of the previous generation.

While Xiaomi hasn’t officially shared a full spec sheet yet, early expectations point to an iterative but meaningful upgrade rather than a total redesign. The most talked-about improvements include a newer MediaTek chipset—widely tipped to be the Dimensity 9500—and a bigger battery. For context, the current Redmi K Pad uses a 7,500mAh battery, so any capacity boost would be welcomed, especially for gaming, streaming, and productivity on a smaller screen where strong endurance is a major selling point.

As for release timing, multiple rumors continue to point toward an April launch in China. The Redmi K Pad 2 could reportedly appear alongside another premium Xiaomi device, the Redmi K90 Ultra, which suggests Xiaomi may be planning a broader spring push for its flagship-level hardware.

Global availability is still uncertain. Xiaomi hasn’t indicated whether the Redmi K Pad 2 will launch outside China, but there’s plenty of reason to think it could eventually reach more markets under a different name. If Xiaomi follows past branding patterns, it may reintroduce the device internationally later in the year as a second-generation Xiaomi Pad Mini.

For anyone watching the compact flagship tablet category, the Redmi K Pad 2 is shaping up to be one of the more important upcoming releases—especially if it combines a top-tier MediaTek processor, a larger battery, and confirmed 67W fast charging in a small, portable form factor.
