Xiaomi Unveils Next-Gen Redmi Laptops With Displays That Outshine the MacBook Neo

Xiaomi is expanding its laptop portfolio with the Redmi Book 2026 lineup, launching two new models aimed at students, professionals, and everyday users who want a smooth, color-accurate display without paying premium ultrabook prices. The new releases are the Redmi Book 14 2026 and Redmi Book 16 2026, and while they share most of their internal hardware, Xiaomi is clearly using the screens as the main selling point.

The standout feature across both laptops is the high-refresh display, which is a notable step up from common 60Hz IPS panels found on many competing notebooks. If you care about smoother scrolling, cleaner motion in videos, and more responsive day-to-day use, a 120Hz screen can make a real difference.

The Redmi Book 14 2026 comes with a 14-inch 16:10 panel running at 1800p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also pushes brightness up to 500 nits, which is helpful for working near windows, in bright rooms, or on the go. Xiaomi is also emphasizing color performance with 100% sRGB coverage, and it includes full DC dimming for more comfortable viewing during long sessions.

The Redmi Book 16 2026 steps up to a larger 16-inch display, also with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio. However, its panel drops to 1600p and 400 nits of brightness. That means it’s slightly less sharp and may be a bit harder to view under strong lighting compared with the 14-inch model, but the larger canvas is still attractive for multitasking, documents, and split-screen work.

Beyond the screens, the two laptops are largely the same. Both are powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 5 125H from the Meteor Lake generation. It’s a capable mid-range chip for productivity, schoolwork, media, and light creative tasks, though some shoppers may have hoped for a newer processor generation. Memory tops out at 16GB of LPDDR5X running at 7,467MT/s, and storage goes up to 1TB using PCIe 4.0 SSDs in Xiaomi’s pre-configured options.

Battery and charging are another shared area, though the choice is a little surprising. Even though the 16-inch model is bigger, Xiaomi uses the same 80Wh battery in both laptops. Charging is handled by a 100W GaN charger, which should be convenient for quick top-ups and portability.

In terms of size and weight, the Redmi Book 14 2026 measures 312mm wide and weighs about 3.28 pounds, making it the more travel-friendly option. The Redmi Book 16 2026 is wider at 354.98mm and weighs around 4.1 pounds, which is still manageable for a 16-inch machine but less ideal if you carry it daily.

Pricing positions the new Redmi Book models in an upper mid-range bracket. The Redmi Book 14 2026 starts at CNY 5,499 (about $806), while the Redmi Book 16 2026 starts at CNY 5,699 (about $835). They aren’t the cheapest options in the broader laptop market, but they do come in below Xiaomi’s higher-end Book Pro 2026 lineup, while offering one of the most attention-grabbing features here: a 120Hz display focused on smoother visuals and pleasant, accurate color.
