Xiaomi’s next Redmi Note lineup may be getting closer to an international debut, and a newly spotted model could make the series even more interesting for global buyers. After launching the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro in China, Xiaomi now appears to be preparing additional variants for markets outside its home country, including a possible Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G.
The most notable detail is the appearance of the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in Thailand’s NBTC certification database. The device is listed with the model number 2609FRA74G. Xiaomi model numbers that end with “G” usually refer to global versions, suggesting that this handset is intended for international release. The “2609” portion may also hint at a September 2026 launch window, although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the date.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G has also surfaced through Taiwan’s NCC certification, revealing several important storage and memory options. According to the listing, the phone may arrive in four configurations: 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, 8GB RAM with 512GB storage, 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM with 512GB storage. The certification also points to support for microSD card expansion up to 2TB, which could make the device appealing to users who store large amounts of photos, videos, apps, and files.
Interestingly, Xiaomi has not launched a Redmi Note 17 Pro Max model in China so far. That raises the possibility that this could be a global-exclusive version or a renamed model designed specifically for select international markets. The “Pro Max” branding also suggests that Xiaomi may position it as one of the most capable devices in the Redmi Note 17 family.
Alongside the Pro Max variant, the standard Redmi Note 17 5G has also been certified in Thailand. This model appears under the number 26081RA18G, again carrying the “G” suffix that typically signals a global release. While the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 17 5G features a massive 8,000mAh battery, the global model is expected to include a slightly smaller 7,700mAh battery. Even with the reduction, that capacity would still be far above what most mid-range smartphones offer.
For reference, the Redmi Note 17 5G launched in China with a large 7-inch OLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, a 50MP rear camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera. If the global version keeps most of these specifications, it could become a strong choice for buyers looking for a budget 5G phone with a big screen, long battery life, and dependable everyday performance.
Xiaomi has not yet made an official announcement regarding the global Redmi Note 17 series, but the recent certifications strongly suggest that launch preparations are underway.
