Xiaomi Launches Electric Scooter 6: Smarter, Smoother, and Packed with Upgrades

Xiaomi has quietly added the new Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 to its global website, signaling an upcoming wider release. The model appears alongside the Electric Scooter 6 Lite and Electric Scooter 6 Max, giving buyers more choices in Xiaomi’s latest scooter lineup. Compared with the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 from 2025, the Electric Scooter 6 brings several notable improvements, though it also makes a few trade-offs that potential riders should know about.

One of the biggest upgrades is performance. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 is listed with a 400W motor for typical output and up to 800W peak power. That’s a step up from the Electric Scooter 5, which offers 350W standard power and 700W peak. Despite the stronger motor, the top speed remains the same at 25 km/h (about 16 mph), which aligns with common regulations in many regions. Riders can still choose between three riding modes: pedestrian, standard, and sport, making it easy to prioritize control, everyday cruising, or quicker acceleration when conditions allow.

Comfort also gets a boost thanks to larger wheels and added suspension. Xiaomi equips the Electric Scooter 6 with 12-inch tubeless tires, which are 2 inches bigger than the previous model’s. Bigger tires can help smooth out bumps and uneven pavement, making daily commuting feel less harsh. On top of that, this model includes spring suspension on both the front and rear, a meaningful upgrade for ride stability and comfort, especially on rougher streets.

However, the Electric Scooter 6 isn’t a straight upgrade in every area. The battery capacity drops to 360 Wh, down from 477 Wh on the Electric Scooter 5. Xiaomi offsets this with faster charging, cutting the total time by about an hour to roughly eight hours. The downside is reduced travel distance: the estimated range falls from 60 km (around 37 miles) to 45 km (around 28 miles). For shorter commutes, that range may still be sufficient, but riders who regularly push longer distances may notice the difference.

Weight is another factor. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 6 is listed at 26.3 kg (about 58 lbs), which is significantly heavier than the 20.1 kg (about 44 lbs) Electric Scooter 5. If you frequently carry your scooter up stairs, lift it onto public transit, or store it in tight spaces, that added weight could be a deciding point.

Design-wise, the Electric Scooter 6 introduces a new kicktail, giving it a slightly different profile from its predecessor. Beyond that, many core specs remain familiar. Both the Electric Scooter 6 and Electric Scooter 5 are rated for inclines up to 18%, use a combination of drum brakes and E-ABS for braking control, and feature IPX5 water resistance for better protection against splashes and light rain.

As of now, Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed the official release date or pricing for the Electric Scooter 6. For reference, the previous Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 has been priced around €399.99 in Europe. If Xiaomi positions the new model near that level, the stronger motor, larger tubeless tires, and dual suspension could make it appealing for riders who prioritize comfort and power, while the reduced range and heavier build may push long-range commuters to compare options carefully.
