Xiaomi 18 rumors point to dual 200MP cameras, compact design, and a huge battery
Xiaomi’s next flagship lineup is already drawing attention, and the standard Xiaomi 18 could turn out to be one of the most interesting models in the series. While the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are expected to reach Europe soon, fresh leaks suggest the more affordable Xiaomi 18 may still pack several high-end features usually reserved for premium variants.
According to new information from tipster Smart Pikachu, the Xiaomi 18 is expected to launch officially in December. The phone is rumored to feature a 6.4-inch display, making it a relatively compact flagship by today’s standards. That would place it close in size to the Xiaomi 18 Pro, potentially appealing to users who want top-tier performance without carrying an oversized device.
One of the biggest rumored highlights is the camera setup. The Xiaomi 18 is said to retain two 200-megapixel cameras, which could make it a serious contender in the flagship smartphone camera race. If accurate, this would be a major selling point for the base model, especially for buyers who want premium photography features at a lower price than the Pro versions.
However, Xiaomi may still keep some features exclusive to its more expensive models. The Xiaomi 18 is reportedly not getting the Privacy Display feature, which is designed to limit viewing angles and help protect sensitive on-screen content from people nearby. This could be one of the key differences between the standard model and the Xiaomi 18 Pro.
The leak also claims that the Xiaomi 18 will come with a metal body, giving it a premium feel despite being positioned as the entry model in the flagship series. Under the hood, the device is rumored to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, which would place it firmly in high-performance territory. A large 7,000 mAh battery is also mentioned, although the European version may receive a slightly smaller battery, similar to what is expected for other models in the lineup.
It remains unclear exactly how Xiaomi will separate the Xiaomi 18 from the Xiaomi 18 Pro beyond the missing Privacy Display. Based on previous product strategies, the standard model may also skip the secondary rear display seen on higher-end versions. The camera hardware could differ as well, with the base model possibly using smaller sensors even if the headline megapixel count remains impressive.
Pricing could be the deciding factor. The Xiaomi 18 Pro is expected to arrive in Europe with a starting price around €1,399, so a more affordable Xiaomi 18 with a compact form factor, powerful processor, large battery, metal construction, and dual 200MP cameras could become a very attractive alternative.
If these leaks prove accurate, the Xiaomi 18 may appeal to buyers looking for a compact Android flagship that does not compromise too much on performance or camera power. It could also compete directly with other premium compact phones, including Apple’s next Pro iPhone models, while potentially offering stronger battery capacity and aggressive hardware specifications.
For now, Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the full specifications, pricing, or availability of the Xiaomi 18. Still, the early details suggest the base model may be much more than a simple entry point into the series. It could become one of the most balanced flagship smartphones Xiaomi has released, especially for users who want premium features without paying for every Pro-level extra.
