Owners of the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen) and Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) can now enjoy the Xbox Cloud Gaming service that has been recently expanded to these devices. This capability initially launched for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen) but has now grown to include earlier versions of the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and the latest Fire TV Cube.
Last month, it was announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming would be accessible on select Fire TV devices, allowing users to play Xbox games directly on their TVs without needing a console. Initially, the service was compatible with the newer Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen). With the recent update, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen) and Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) are also supported, providing more users with the opportunity to experience Xbox games through cloud streaming.
To get started, owners of the newly supported devices simply need to download the Xbox app from the Amazon Appstore, sign in using their Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and connect a suitable Bluetooth-enabled controller. A robust internet connection is essential for a seamless gaming experience, and those using the Fire TV Cube may benefit from its ethernet port for a more stable connection compared to the Fire TV Sticks.
Despite this expansion, Amazon Fire TV smart TVs, including the high-end Omni Series, are yet to receive support for Xbox Cloud Gaming. As it stands, there’s an available Fire TV Stick 4K/4K Max & Xbox Controller gaming bundle, though a similar bundle for the Fire TV Cube is not offered at this time. However, the Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) is currently discounted, making it an attractive option for those looking to delve into cloud gaming through Xbox.
While the recent addition of these devices is a positive development, many are hoping that support for Fire TV smart TVs will arrive in the near future.
