Vivo V80 tipped to launch in October with a huge 7,200 mAh battery
Vivo appears to be preparing another big battery smartphone for its V-series lineup. After introducing the Vivo V80 Lite earlier this month, the company is now expected to bring the standard Vivo V80 to the market soon, with reports pointing to a possible launch in the first week of October.
The biggest highlight of the Vivo V80 is expected to be its battery. The phone is tipped to feature a massive 7,200 mAh unit, making it a notable upgrade over the Vivo V70, which came with a 6,500 mAh battery. If accurate, this could make the Vivo V80 an attractive option for users who want longer screen time, better endurance for gaming, and fewer charging stops during the day.
The launch of the Vivo V80 Lite has already set high expectations for the series. That model arrived with a huge 10,000 mAh battery, a large 6.83-inch 2.8K AMOLED display, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. While the regular Vivo V80 may not match the Lite model’s battery capacity, a 7,200 mAh cell would still be far larger than what most mid-range and upper mid-range smartphones currently offer.
Full specifications for the Vivo V80 have not been revealed yet, but it is expected to improve on the Vivo V70 in several areas. The Vivo V70 featured a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1260 x 2750 resolution, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, up to 12 GB of RAM, and up to 512 GB of internal storage. Based on that, the Vivo V80 is likely to offer at least comparable performance, with upgrades likely in battery life, software, and camera features.
One of the more interesting rumored additions is an AI creative camera mode. This feature is said to include around 30 effects, giving users more options for portraits, social media content, and creative photography. Vivo has been focusing heavily on camera software in recent years, so AI-based editing and shooting modes could become one of the key selling points of the Vivo V80.
The Vivo V80 is also expected to ship with OriginOS 7 out of the box, based on Android 17. That would give buyers access to Vivo’s latest software experience from day one, including new interface changes, smoother animations, improved customization, and updated AI tools.
With a large battery, expected AMOLED display, AI camera features, and next-generation software, the Vivo V80 could become one of the more compelling upcoming Vivo smartphones in its segment. If the rumored October launch timeline is correct, more details on pricing, processor, charging speed, display specifications, and camera hardware should surface very soon.
