Vivo Challenges OnePlus Nord 5 with the Bold Launch of Its New V70 Elite Smartphone

Vivo is stepping up the competition in the upper-midrange smartphone space with the new Vivo V70 Elite, a device that leans heavily into camera performance and premium styling while keeping specs aimed at everyday power users.

Camera hardware is clearly the headline feature. The Vivo V70 Elite comes with a 50 MP Sony LYT-700V main camera using a 1/1.56-inch sensor, designed to capture sharper detail and stronger low-light results than many typical midrange sensors. Alongside it is a 50 MP telephoto camera based on Sony’s IMX882, delivering 3x optical zoom for cleaner portraits and better long-distance shots without the smudged look that often comes with digital zoom. Rounding out the rear setup is an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, giving users extra flexibility for landscapes, group photos, and tight indoor scenes.

Visually, Vivo is also leaning into a more distinctive look. The V70 Elite uses a squircle-shaped camera module that stands out from the usual circular or rectangular designs. It’s offered in two color options, Black Red and Sand Beige, and both versions include matching frames and camera housings for a more coordinated, premium finish.

Pricing positions the Vivo V70 Elite as a step-up choice for buyers who want better cameras and more storage without jumping into flagship pricing. The base model starts at INR 51,999 (around $571) with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. For users who want more headroom for multitasking and media, the higher-end configuration comes with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, priced at INR 61,999 (around $680).

With a Sony-led camera setup, true 3x optical zoom, and a more upscale design approach, the Vivo V70 Elite looks built for shoppers who prioritize photography, style, and higher storage options in a single package.
