Valve’s Steam Frame Launch Looks Closer as Massive VR Hardware Shipments Arrive
Valve appears to be ramping up preparations for its upcoming Steam Frame headset, with new shipping records suggesting that a major hardware rollout may be getting closer. Recent logistics data shows that Valve has received three large shipments tied to virtual reality devices, adding more fuel to speculation that the Steam Frame launch is approaching.
The latest shipments reportedly arrived on July 15 and were each listed as containing “Virtual Reality Devices.” Combined, the three deliveries weighed around 19,304 kilograms, or roughly 21.3 tons. That makes this one of the largest known hardware shipments connected to Valve’s upcoming VR product so far.
This follows another recent delivery described as an “HMD + VR controller accessory,” which also appeared to be related to Steam Frame hardware. Taken together, these shipments suggest Valve is moving beyond early preparation and into a more serious pre-launch phase.
Although Valve has not yet announced the official Steam Frame release date or price, the company has already started laying the groundwork on Steam. Earlier this month, Valve introduced a “Great on Steam Frame” category, designed to help players quickly identify games optimized for the new headset.
Valve has also begun assigning Steam Frame compatibility ratings to games, with more titles being added over time. This system could work similarly to Steam Deck verification, giving users a clearer idea of which games will deliver the best experience on the new device.
The Steam Frame is expected to be Valve’s next major step in virtual reality hardware, following the company’s previous efforts in the VR space. With large shipments now arriving and Steam compatibility work already underway, the timing strongly suggests that Valve may be preparing for an official reveal sooner rather than later.
For now, key details such as specifications, pricing, launch regions, and availability remain unknown. However, the growing number of Steam Frame-related updates makes it increasingly likely that Valve is getting close to sharing more information about its next VR headset.
