As modern PC games and AI workloads demand more video memory, many gamers are finding that their graphics cards still have enough raw power but not enough VRAM. High-memory consumer GPUs are usually limited to expensive flagship models such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090, leaving owners of older cards with fewer upgrade options. Now, specialized GPU memory upgrade services are offering an alternative: increasing the VRAM on existing graphics cards instead of replacing them entirely.
This type of upgrade can be especially appealing for gamers who want smoother performance in the latest AAA titles, where 8GB or even 11GB of VRAM can become a limitation at higher resolutions and texture settings. More video memory can also help users run certain AI workloads, including large language models, locally on their systems.
One service provider, GPU Solutions, has shown examples of modified graphics cards with significantly increased memory capacity. A notable example is the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, originally released with 11GB of VRAM, upgraded to 22GB. For users who still rely on older high-end GPUs, this kind of modification can potentially extend the card’s useful life for gaming, content creation, and AI tasks.
However, upgrading VRAM is far from a simple plug-and-play process. It requires advanced micro-soldering skills, specialized tools, and deep knowledge of graphics card layouts. Depending on the GPU model, technicians may need to replace GDDR5X, GDDR6, or GDDR6X memory chips with higher-capacity modules.

With memory components becoming more expensive due to supply constraints, the final cost may be significant. Still, for some users, upgrading an existing GPU could be more attractive than buying a new high-end graphics card.
The company states that pickup and delivery charges are AED 50, which is roughly $13.60. The upgrade process is said to take around 12 days, and the service includes a 90-day warranty. While the provider is based in the UAE, interested customers outside the region may need to contact the company directly to discuss shipping and logistics.

As games become more memory-hungry and AI applications become more common, video memory is becoming just as important as GPU compute power.
