Colorful Unveils Lightweight AMD Laptop With Smooth 120Hz Display

Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus Debuts With Ryzen 7 7735HS, 120Hz 16-Inch Display, and Lightweight Design

Colorful has introduced the Rimbook L1 Plus, a new AMD-powered laptop aimed at users who want a large, sharp display, solid everyday performance, and a portable chassis without moving into premium price territory. The laptop launches in China at CNY 5,999, which is roughly $886.

At the heart of the Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus is the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor. While this chip is not the newest option in AMD’s lineup, it remains a capable APU for productivity, entertainment, multitasking, and light gaming. It also includes the Radeon 680M integrated graphics, which is still one of the stronger built-in GPU solutions available in this class.

For users who enjoy gaming on the go, the Radeon 680M can handle many popular titles at 1080p, especially when graphics settings are adjusted to low or medium. It is not designed to replace a dedicated gaming laptop with discrete graphics, but it should be more than enough for casual gaming, esports titles, media editing, and general creative workloads.

One of the main highlights of the Rimbook L1 Plus is its display. Colorful has equipped the laptop with a 16-inch IPS panel featuring a 2560 x 1600 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The taller 16:10 aspect ratio gives users more vertical space for browsing, writing, spreadsheets, coding, and content creation. The high refresh rate should also make scrolling, animations, and supported games feel smoother than on a standard 60Hz screen.

The laptop comes with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory. However, the RAM does not appear to be upgradeable, so buyers will need to be comfortable with the included memory configuration. For storage, the Rimbook L1 Plus includes a 512GB SSD, but Colorful has added flexibility here by offering two M.2 slots with support for PCIe Gen 4×4 SSDs. That means users can expand storage later if they need more room for games, videos, software, or large project files.

Despite its 16-inch screen, the Rimbook L1 Plus is designed to stay relatively portable. The chassis measures around 16.65mm thick and weighs about 1.4kg, or roughly 3 pounds. That makes it notably light for a large-screen laptop and could appeal to students, office users, remote workers, and frequent travelers who want more screen space without carrying a bulky machine.

Battery capacity is rated at 65Wh, which should provide a reasonable balance between portability and runtime. Actual battery life will depend on usage, brightness level, performance mode, and wireless activity, but the capacity is respectable for a slim 16-inch notebook.

The port selection is also practical for everyday use. The Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus includes two USB Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one HDMI 1.4 port, one USB 2.0 Type-A port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. One of the USB-C ports is a full-function USB 3.2 Gen 1 connection with support for Power Delivery charging, adding extra convenience for users who prefer USB-C chargers.

Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, giving the laptop modern connection options for faster networking and stable peripheral support.

For now, the Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus has officially launched in China. Although the laptop has appeared on Colorful’s global product pages, international pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed.

Overall, the Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus looks like an interesting option for buyers seeking an affordable 16-inch AMD laptop with a sharp 120Hz display, lightweight build, expandable storage, and capable integrated graphics. The Ryzen 7 7735HS may be an older processor, but paired with Radeon 680M graphics and a high-resolution IPS screen, it still gives the laptop enough appeal for work, study, streaming, and casual gaming.
