Unveiling the AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 “Krackan” APU: 8 Cores Roaring Beyond 5 GHz

Recently, AMD’s new Ryzen AI 7 350 “Krackan” APU made waves after being spotted in Geekbench’s listings. This 8-core/16-thread chip, hailing from AMD’s budget-friendly Krackan Point series, showcases significant performance improvements over its predecessors, challenging the Ryzen 7 8845HS with its enhanced capabilities.

The Ryzen AI 7 350 offers an impressive arrangement of 4x Zen 5 and 4x Zen 5c cores, coupled with RDNA 3.5-based graphics. Its energy efficiency is reflected in the adjustable TDP range of 15-45W, making it ideal for mainstream laptops and mobile devices. The CPU scored 2677 points in a single-core test and 11742 in a multi-core, demonstrating about 14% more single-core performance compared to the older Zen 4-based models.

Among the exciting features of the Ryzen AI HX “Krackan Point” are a monolithic Zen 5 design, up to 8 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units, and support for LPDDR5X-8000 as well as DDR5 memory. Clock speeds exceeding 5GHz and a shared 16 MB L3 cache further contribute to its prowess. An intriguing addition is the XDNA 2 Engine, supporting up to 50 AI TOPS, ensuring a robust architecture for AI tasks.

AMD plans to unveil this series at CES 2025, alongside other innovations like the groundbreaking Strix Halo series and RDNA 4-based discrete GPUs.
