Tiny Intel Mini-ITX Board Packs 128GB RAM Support and Quad Ethernet Ports

Aaeon has unveiled the MIX-PTLWV1, a compact Mini-ITX motherboard built around Intel’s Panther Lake platform and aimed squarely at industrial, embedded, and enterprise computing environments. Despite its small footprint, the board packs a surprisingly capable hardware configuration, including an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor and support for up to 128 GB of DDR5-6400 memory.

The MIX-PTLWV1 is designed for users who need reliable performance in space-constrained systems. With dual C/SO-DIMM slots, the motherboard can be configured with a large memory capacity that makes it suitable for demanding multitasking, automation systems, edge computing, digital signage, machine vision, and other professional workloads.

At the center of the board is Intel’s Core Ultra 5 325, an eight-core Panther Lake chip featuring four Cougar Cove performance cores and four Darkmont efficiency cores. This gives the motherboard enough processing power for moderately intensive industrial applications while keeping energy efficiency in focus. In expected multi-threaded performance, the chip should sit slightly ahead of some recent mobile processors, making it a strong option for compact systems that need more than basic computing power.

Graphics are handled by a 4-core Xe3 integrated GPU. While this is not intended for heavy gaming or high-end 3D rendering, it should be more than capable for general visual workloads, multi-display setups, interface systems, media playback, monitoring dashboards, and light graphics acceleration. For industrial deployments, this balance of CPU and GPU performance could be especially useful.

One of the biggest strengths of the Aaeon MIX-PTLWV1 is its connectivity. The board includes dual 2.5 GbE ports as standard, with an option to add dual 10 GbE networking. This makes it appealing for environments where fast data transfer, networking reliability, or server-like connectivity is required. The board can be configured with up to four Ethernet ports, which is notable for a Mini-ITX platform.

Display support is also a major highlight. The MIX-PTLWV1 includes four DisplayPort 1.4 outputs, allowing it to drive multiple screens at once. This makes it suitable for control rooms, industrial monitoring stations, kiosk systems, medical displays, retail installations, and other commercial environments where multi-monitor output is essential.

The motherboard also comes with a broad range of industrial-focused I/O options. It includes four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a 3.5 mm audio output, 8-bit programmable DIO, 40-pin LVDS, eDP 1.4, headers for additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity, an audio I/O header, RS232/422/485 box headers, and five RS232-only box headers. This extensive selection gives system integrators plenty of flexibility when building specialized machines.

Expansion is handled by a PCIe Gen 5 x8 slot, giving the board room for add-in cards depending on the deployment. It also includes an M.2 2230 E-key slot using a PCIe 4.0 x1 interface, which can be used for wireless modules, along with an M.2 3042/3052 B-key slot that includes a nano SIM socket for cellular connectivity. Storage support comes through a single M.2 2280 slot for NVMe SSDs.

Because the MIX-PTLWV1 is aimed at industrial and enterprise buyers rather than everyday desktop users, it carries a premium price. The Intel Core Ultra 5 325 configuration without RAM or storage is listed at around $951. That puts it well above typical consumer Mini-ITX motherboards, but the cost reflects its specialized design, rich I/O support, networking options, and embedded computing focus.

For businesses that need a compact motherboard with modern Intel Panther Lake performance, large DDR5 memory support, multiple display outputs, advanced networking, and industrial-grade connectivity, the Aaeon MIX-PTLWV1 stands out as a powerful and flexible Mini-ITX solution. It is not built for the average home PC builder, but for enterprise deployments, factory automation, edge AI systems, and embedded applications, it offers a strong combination of performance, expandability, and long-term versatility.
